Ok, having finally done some meaningful journeys in the D3 i can report (not very scientifically) that i used to struggle to get near 30mpg on the dash, now getting 31/32 mpg, so a meaningful improvement i think. TSL's friction reducing qualities must be rather good!
I shall be ordering some more for the rest of the fleet.
I'm sure an earlier post stated that washing up liquid could do the same job, well when i get my next batch of TSL i'll try washing the dirty dishes with it and report back!!

566 Miles on the tank range divided by 18.02 gallons (82 litre tank capacity)
would indicate that your average was actually 31.41 MPG
If that's a 3 MPG improvement on what you were getting then
your savings with TSL would be as follows:
Distance: 10.000 Miles (One oil cycle)
Old MPG: 28
Fuel price: £ 1.42
Total cost: £ 2305.52
Distance: 10.000 Miles (One oil cycle)
New MPG: 31
Fuel price: £ 1.42
Total cost: £ 2082.40
Savings with TSL = £ 223.12
That'll pay for the TSL, the oil for the next oil change
and a nice amount of diesel!

The TSL arrived in the post yesterday. As I needed to get some bits & pieces at the local trade park, I took the TSL with me and, after making my purchases, I poured in the contents of the 250ml bottle and then let the engine idle for the recommended 5 minutes.
Whilst manouvering my D4 out of the car park just on idle, the vehicle was noticeably faster. Back on the main road, the engine felt smoother and seemed to accelerate more easily. I'll report back on fuel consumption later this month after a trip to Germany.

well having had TSL in my D3 for a number of weeks I am still happy. the NVH has dropped considerably and I have noticed a small improvement in economy, but then again I have a roof rack and winch fitted! I will be placing another order as I for my next service Prince Harry's D3: G4 factory equipped D3 - expo rack, winch, roof lights, ladder, active locking rear diff, RAI, Melville & Moon seat covers, General Grabber ATs/ Goodyear Duratrac

Update on using TSL.
I added TSL to my FFRR with 80,000 miles on about 2weeks ago.
The engine is muck quieter and turns over faster on start up
Fuel economy is up 2mpg.
A great product and great services from Hess

Right! 1000 miles by motorway/A Roads/B Roads/Farm tracks. SW Scotland & Borders from North Notts. Had a remap in Jan and been adding 2-stroke for >6months. Nevertheless, definite mpg increase and very quiet. Best onboard mpg indicated - 39.7 at 50mph with 2 on board, no load. Not bad but I was actually towing a caravan (Eriba Touring Troll 540GT) for most of the time. Best figures indicated? 28.2mpg.
Sooooooo, my opinion? A definite improvement in performance, mpg and, most certainly, a noticeable reduction in engine noise.
Have already pointed two Disco 3 owners to this site and recommended they consider purchasing this product (along with adding 2-stroke, re-mapping, mods, additions, shiny stuff, non-shiny stuff, this, that and the other).

posted this elsewhere, but I thought it might be interesting on here as well. I've just ordered a Litre from Hess.
The 1L bottle then does 6 oil changes (If I've got my maths right!)
1. 1 x 250ml 1st aplication - 250ml used
2. 1 x 150ml 2nd application - 400ml used
3. 1 x 150ml 3rd application - 550ml used
4. 1 x 150ml 4th application - 700ml used
5. 1 x 150ml 5th application - 850ml used
6. 1 x 150ml 6th application - 1000ml used
6 oil changes = 19.41 per oil change. even 0.5mpg improvement would see (over 15,000 mile)
I get about 24mpg = 26.48p per mile. (1.40/l)
If I got 24.5mpg = 25.94p per mile
saving 0.54p per mile
multiply by 15000 miles = £81 - £19.41 TSL cost = 61.59 saved overall. So makes sense even with such a minmal saving.
Cost of 2 stroke oil in diesel
1 litre = £5.00 (asda special price)
200ml oil per fill = £1.25 per fill
17.62 gallons = 432 miles based on 24.5mpg (Assumed same improvement in MPG)
= 34.72 refills to do 15000 miles
34.72 * £1.25 = 43.40 cost
Improvement (assuming 0.5mpg with 2 stroke oil = £81 saving - £43.40 cost = £37.6 saving overall.
Plus you have to remember to put it in each tank.
So I think I'll go for the 1Litre TSL.
In reality, I'll also put it in the Defender, perhaps it will reduce it's tractor like noise a little.
I need to change my engine oil next week as Ive done about 2k on the new engine, and want to change oil/filter before Pyrenees. :thumbright:
Actually Ive just checked my MPG log and over the last 2 years, I've averaged 21mpg.... so 0.5mpg will save me even more. I can keep a log of my mpg as I always have done. should be easy to compare/check for any improvement.
Worth a punt anyway I feel as I did put 2 stroke in Buttercup's defender and it did make it quieter. My engine should be worn in by now (unless Hess has advice to not put it in yet?)
I keep good records of all my fill-ups, so will update after the pyrenees trip and beyond.Bodsys Brake Bible
