Just for the chainsaws, strimmers and trimmer though. Haven't slung any in the tank..... yet Confused
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Hi All

on D3's with or without DPF I stick to Jaso-FC. Not only does it burn virtually ash-free, but it has also improved carbon reducing properties than the FB variant.

How to check if your vehicle has a DPF I have discussed earlier in this thread.

Not been able to find Jaso FC on my last two tank fill ups Sad
But searching for an Internet supplier I see that there's both Synthetic and Semi Synthetic.
Does it matter which one is used.

@ron p, yes it does matter, fully synthetic does not mix with the fuel, stick to jc mineral or semi synth, either one, but not fully synthetic and if you have a dpf not jb,

Just ordered online with Asda. Thumbs Up
Tried to order 10 and the system wouldn't let me - only let me have 2!
Then tried to do another order but it came up as 'item out of stock' Evil or Very Mad

I have just bought Castrol Actevo Jaso FC.

My D3 is 3+ years old & done 36k miles, with Redex about every 3rd or 4th fill.

I am proposing to dose 1 lite to a tankful for the first couple of tanks, and then drop back to 1:200.

The question is should one always dose at the fuel station, before adding diesel, so that it mixes well, or is it OK to add at any time.

Two reasons for this, firstly I'd rather not carry Castrol Actevo Jaso FC in the car, particularly part filled containers, and secondly when I part fill the tank I will have to measure the amount of Castrol Actevo Jaso FC to add, which is much easier to accomplish in the garage at home.

OK, I'm going to give this a go.
So it'll be Jaso FC for my 2011 SDV6, yes?

But what is best mix, I don't want to work in 'ratios', I prefer 'ml to full tank'.
I've seen on this thread anything from 200ml up to 600ml per tank.
So what's best?
Also, should I use more for the first few tanks, then reduce after a few fill ups?

Thumbs Up

Hi ronp

I would start with 500ml per tank. If you want to you can reduce to 400ml from tank 3 onwards.

Litre per tank seems a lot Shocked
hgbosch recommendation for my fill ratio is above.

I have read that it's best to add then fill up.
Reckon I'll cut back to 333ml instead of 400ml, as that'll give me 3 lots from a litre.
I reckon if you add it later then it'll get sloshed around with the diesel and mix ok ..... but that's just my thoughts!

I put 400ml into a full tank a couple of days ago then did 400miles - seemed OK, so assume mixed up ok.
Must admit, having never seen 2SO before - seems very thin!

It seems from this thread that the fuel tank capacity is c. 85 litres:-

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic4614.html

1:200 mix for 85 litres is .425 litre / 425 ml

I'm going to go with hgbosch's recommendation of 500 ml per tank "to start with", and then play it by ear.

Thanks for your help everyone.

Added 500ml of the Castrol Actevo 2T, Jasco FC to a full tank last night for the first time. I've completed around 10 miles in it and noticed nothing! Wink It's an 05 with around 45k on the clock and I'll update a couple of times to see how it goes.

I suspect I'll do one more tank at 500ml and then drop down to 400ml from that point onwards.

I've just done nearly 600 sibce using 2T - seems to start smoother, smokes less (if at all when I really boot it) and seems to run smoother (at 75 MPH it cruises at 2K revs vs 2.2K previously)

Just having a look into this and read in my LR manual that diesel with a higher than 0.3% Sulphur content should be avoided. BS EN 590 Diesel spec states <0 - 0.001% Sulphur content for UK and Euro ULSD Diesel.

Can anybody estimate the increased Sulphur content by adding the 2T in the ratios discussed?
