BBS's release of V1.30 for faultmate MSV-2 |
|
We are now just hours away from releasing V1.30 for the faultmate, and it contains such a vast amount of additional access functionality and capabilty for so many of the Disco 3 / RR Sport vehicle systems that only writing the help files for it all, is causing any final delay. It will however be released before the weekend.
In addition, we have also now bought the CCF edit capability right up to date, including adding all the new stuff for 2012 MY vehicles.
Probably more than any other previous upgrade, this one has been a particularly long and hard slog, as it is mainly all new stuff that we have had to write from scratch but can now be re used to make further developments on future upgrades much quicker and easier. I therefore hope you will join me in complimenting the MSV-2 development staff on this really quite significant achievement.

As Bodsy has asked are most of the bugs ironed out now in this release...

The 1.30 upgrade incorporates 3 main elements, all of which i believe have good reason to not really require any extensive degree of beta testing prior to release.
A) Since 1.29b there have been quite a number of problems reported that we have been able to solve on an, as and when basis, most often with us supplying a patch to the person reporting the problem, so the fix can be tested. Unless a Beta Tester actually had the situation that highlighted the problem, they would be unable to test this. These interim pre tested fixes are automatically included in any next major release.
B) The main reason, and urgency in making this release is the non working CCF edit for 2012 vehicles fix. We already know that we had figured out the main problem of why the CCF would not write back, which was simply due to the new 2012 BCU Part Number not being listed in the Boot loader look up table.
We have however also ensured that any and all values and newly added parameters are fully and properly handled in both the CCF and EUCD CCF, there were actually some in the 2010 version that were not, which meant the data being written back was being slightly changed from what had been read, where it should not be. We have extensively checked that this does not now happen and the system always re produces a perfect copy of the CCF data.
I should also add that although it took us a while to get to sort out the CCF, this was almost totally down to our setting up the respective development hardware, now we have it, should any problem be discovered, we can near instantly solve it.
C) We have been slogging away for some time, adding Live Data inputs and output control functionality on quite a number of the Discovery 3 vehicle systems. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of these, such that it would overwhelm a Beta Tester and take some considerable time and effort to test them all. There may well be some that are not quite right yet, but as they are things owners would not have had anyway, and it is hardly going to be a step backward, we figured that as we are making a release, we may as well include all this.
However, despite all this, i accept that there is the possibility that there may be some major unforeseen problem, so this afternoon we have supplied only a few members with the upgrade, including Wiggs (see i still love ya Buddy, check your E-mail )
I hope they can find the time to give it a quick once over and get back to us.

I know that Bro.
I am well looking forward to you cooking up my breakfast at billing in 2013
After all, i figure you did not build that Sankey just for show and for the love of god, never mind all that super clever solar power stuff, just put a bloody culender in it
In the meantime, if you ain't too busy flitting around Europe and all, me and the guys would dearly love to get your input on this here V1.30 upgrade.
