Xenon retrofitting
Hi. Sorry if this has raised it's head regularly before - I have tried 'search', but to no end.
I pick up a 2006 SE this week, but I want to upgrade the headlights to xenon like my other car has. Is this something which can be done reasonably cheaply and easily, or is it horrendously expensive and strip down?
Any ideas of £££...?
Thanks!

2006 SE should already have xenons.

Pretty sure they were fitted with Halogens as standard as a mate of mine upgraded his 07 SE to them
Not sure why the search won't come up with anything as loads of info on xenons

Tell me about it!!
It could be LR's policy of continuous disimprovement!! SWMBO's 06 D3 deffo had xenons as standard, nicked them for my car but had to put hem back when we sold hers. 05 S D3s had xenons but 06 S has halogens, b r.

IIRC LR changed the specs 1/2 way through on the 2006 SE model - first half had Xenons the rest had halogens.

All you need is the light units they are plug and play cost wise seen them £300-£500 a pair on here
They may flicker a little on start up but that can be fixed with anybody that has access to msv-2 thingie (wiggs/flack etc on here)
For headlight washers thats similar but you need the loom, pump (drill hole in water bottle) and the nozzles and pipework, then remove bumper dremel out marked holes, push in jets, clamp them in, fit wiring/hose, fit pump and plug in (plug will be there)
Then again enable in ccf via the msv equipment. And all done.

Ah, make sense. SWMBO's was built late summer 05 in the time when LR just made cars to sit in fields for months. Registered early March 06.

I'd keep the originals too, because i think the is a change to the MOT test regarding xenons, if they are fitted they must have a self levelling system in place too (not sure if the xenons have them built in) . Plus you should have light washers too but seeing its an SE it should have those. So it might be a quick swap before the test and swap back after It was mentioned on the freel2 site.

I've just fitted xenons to my D3. Mine is a 57 XS. Came with a few extras but not the lights. Found a set on here 2 weeks ago and fitted them on Sun AM. Took less time to fit and check than SWMBO to boil the kettle and make the tea. Very impressed. Longest bit was taking the front grill off.
Now to fit the A bar. I now have to remove the LF's in the front grill and refit (find grill in shed) the old one. Then mount a pair of LF on the A bar.
Such fun over xmas/New Year. HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

As dave said, this requirement is dealt with by default in the Disco as the entire car self-levels (assuming you don't have one of the rare coil-sprung D3s!), so no extra worries there... 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)
2005 D3 S 10-12 (gone and missed)

SWMBO's xenons on my halogen S went through 2 MOTs with no problem. My car does have washers but no fancy self levelling.
