Scooby, really? Perhaps you need to adjust them to align them up a bit, but my xenons are a massive improvement over halogen and as good as pretty much any other xenon car I've driven.Bodsys Brake Bible

Not as impressed as expected by light output though
Yeah, I have to agree. At first I went down the route of modifying the existing halogen enclosures by adding xenons/ballasts etc. Those were crazy bright - in fact too bright and I kept getting flashed by oncoming traffic. They were a lovely white colour too, which beautifully matched the LED side-lights I have fitted. The OEM Xenons I have now aren't as bright as I'd like, and are yellower than I expected too - they no longer match the LED lights very well. Maybe someone can suggest a nice white Xenon replacement bulb (not too blue)?2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

Folk are retro fitting them on freelanders and of course they dont have air suspension, so how do they self level? And, as for the MOT test, how do the testers know which cars should have the xenons and which shouldn't? As long as they work and are set at the right height and not dazzling, sod em!

I have changed the xenons in my D3, I can't say there was a difference in the brightness but they did seem whiter Maybe me thinking they were whiter because they had been changed. As for the freelander as long as the car knows they are fitted ie CCF they seem to work ok

Very easy to fit (just don't try adjusting them for Europe).
Why not? I do mine when I go abroad - all you need to do is take them out, find the lever down the side and flick it the right way. Takes about 5-10mins as long as you flick the lever the right way first time! (The lever sits in the middle, so is not obvious as to which way you need to move it Mark.

Oh, and I can confirm that a June 06 SE doesn't have Xenons as standard - changed mine last year Mark.

Thank for your replies - great info for a newbie like me.
I picked it up today, and they are halogen - the sticker on the top of them says 'hal' so presuming halogen. If anyone has a pair of decent xenons for sale preferably Norfolk/Suffolk...?
Also looking for some light guards front and rear if anyone has some knocking about...
Thanks again

Bought some new bulbs from hids4u a bit better now. I think the bulbs on my last xenon car were a different colour. These are 4100k I think the last ones were 6000k which makes them look a lot whiter
