Has anyone experienced/solved this?
When I plug my iPhone into the iPod socket on my MY2012, all is well for a minute or so. The screen shows that the iPhone is "docked". Then, suddenly it switches to the bluetooth connection and the music stream is lost. I can get it back by re-selecting the "docked" playback mode but a minute later it switches back to Bluetooth. Any ideas?

Thanks all - Just PM'd Wiggs. Not hopeful though as I now realise how widespread this is. There is a lot of chat on the Apple forum that suggests that Volvo have produced a software update to their Nav/Audio software that fixes this but I don't see how if it is a fundamental issue with IOS 5.01. The issue is that the Land Rover system tells the iPhone that is has the ability to play Bluetooth audio (A2DP) and the iPhone then defaults to playing audio via that method.
One suggestion online is that when the iPhone uses Bluetooth for playback, you can try the following:
- double-press the home button
- swipe all the way to the left
- select the audio output as being iPhone and not Bluetooth
I will give this a try later.
What would be far simpler is if the iPhone let you select if you wanted Bluetooth streaming to selected devices.

Just tried - no luck. It just flips back to BT. It wouldn't be so bad if the sound quality was comparable but the docked mode is so much better! I have just D/L'd an A2DP blocker from the App store which is supposed to fix things but doesn't look too clever. The sound quality seems the same as B/T. I only played with it for 5 mins so will have a closer look tonight. D4 HSE MY2015

Hi,
this is totally the same it was at the actual Volvos. Volvo has fixed it with a software update. Land Rover should do this too.
Probably there is an update available? Has anybody asked the dealer?

IPHONE AUDIO OPERATION 12MY - Ref: A1877 Issue Date: 02.12.11
iPhone operation in Range Rover Evoque and 12MY Range Rover Sport and Discovery 4
This bulletin is issued to highlight an operational issue on vehicles with the Gen 2.1 audio system, which can be experienced when playing audio from an iPhone. The issue occurs when the Phone is connected to the vehicle via Bluetooth at the same time as being used as an iPod via the hard-wire cable.
In particular the issue arises when the phone is connected with the cable before a Bluetooth connection is made.
This is due to the functionality within the iPhone which prioritises the last connection made. The effect is the sound is lost on the cable connection when Bluetooth connects, although the display will still show the track as playing.
If this happens, switching to Bluetooth as an audio source on the audio touch screen will enable the sound from the iPhone's iPod to be heard.
If touch screen control of the audio is required, the cable should be disconnected and reconnected, which will mean this is the last connection made and the iPhone will revert to playing the audio through the hard-wire connection.
It is good practice to plug the iPod in after the car has been started and the phone's Bluetooth connection has been made.
Please be aware, Phones with IOS 5 software will revert to the Bluetooth channel even after the process described above has been followed. The customer will need to either listen to the iPod via the Bluetooth connection or disconnect the phone from Bluetooth via the Bluetooth Media Player Menu, as the phone auto connects the customer would need to do this every cycle.
This situation is under investigation.

Hi,
this has nothing to do with the model. It is an iOS 5 problem.

I have just updated my iPhone to iOS 5.1 and the problem remains the same.
When will Land Rover finish it's "investigation" and present a solution???

For once I would not put the blame on Landrover, but on Apple, as the issue only relates to iOS5. Landrover would have developed the existing interface against the specification provided by apple. Looks like they have changed this on the latest without caring about the 3rd party manufactures.
Personally I am not an apple fan and am unhappy that I have to pay for an interface to a device I refuse to purchase. But love the USB stick. It works as expected, never needs to be removed from the car (except for adding new music). Discovery 4 2.7 SE
Defender 130 TD5 - Daily Drive

Java TD5 HSE - Gone but not forgotten.
Java V6 Freelander - Had fun in it.

I don't blame anyone. As a customer I expect Land Rover to fix it. It seems that Volvo was able to do so already (as gseum posted), why shouldn't Land Rover?
When I bought my iPhone, Apple did not say "this works with Land Rover", but when I bought my Land Rover they said "this works with iPhone/iPad". So for me as a customer it's clear that it's Land Rover who has to fix it. MadJax, you might be right internally between Land Rover and Apple, but that's not my point.
