what battery dimensions can be used on the D3/D4's secondary batterybox?
I might get a "cripplechair" gel-battery from my work if it can be used

guys, do you think there would be enough room for the National Lunar split charge system in the second batt box as well, or did you fit the split charge solenoid elsewhere. the NL system is about the size of the alarm sounder !!!
I still havnt decided whether to Put the battery in the engine bay or the boot. preference is for the engine bay as there is less wiring/hassle as long as the NL system will fit..Duncan

You could probably squeeze it in with a little more giggling around of the components and putting the alarm sounder outside like I did.

Funnily enough I was about to suggest that or at least that the next time we meet up having a good look at mine. You about this coming weekend? We may be going to Makro's by Cribbs on one of the days - will give you a call if we do.

My tow bar certainly won't fit in there ... Even without a battery

Having had Geoff round working his fbh magic I am in for a traxide system.
Where did you run your cables down to your battery?
I am having to run rear wards to connect to the camping trailer so a rear placement seems logical.

What size relay would people recomend for a second battery install. I have seen this and have one fitted to my van DURITE 12V 140A SPLIT CHARGE INTELLIGENT RELAY.
I am not worried about voltage read out's and fancy bit's just something that can do the job. The second battery will be running all the 12v sockets, blackvue and winch.
I have been looking at the T-MAX system which seems to come as a complete kit but as I have all the cable and lugs I think just the relay would do for me.
Thanks
Glynne

did you just run the +ve to the rear and ground the second batt locally?
I'm going for the Traxide as prime concern to me is upping the power whilst the beast sleeps, so i can run the timed heat without the low batt issues.
Glynne
I have used a Durite split charge on the boat with good results if you dont want the sleeping power thing that Traxide says it does.

The box in the middle looks like the glow plug controller from memory, I had that box too.
In the other larger case is the transmission ECU, both of these boxes can be relocated inside the given space but you need to get rid of the big case around the transmission ECU.
There should also be a small horn but I cant see it in your pics, anyways I located mine outside the box on extended wires. It may be different on the Left hand drive models though.
