Now you mention it, mine is worse when cold. Sometimes (very sometimes!)it seems to hold its revs at about 1000 as I come to a halt, then it returns to idle with a lurchI have a traffic jam waiting for me at the end of the drive every morning, and most of these symptoms disappear after the first blast up to 30mph.
I am going to mention it at service. I suspect it will be another transmission software update.

The revs can be held at around 1000 by the control systems, either due to aircon loading or battery charging demands, also at low temperatures (but not below the 8 degree threshold for the FBH to kick in) to assist with engine warm up. This will only happen when there has been no throttle input for a few (40 I think) seconds

No its not that, I wish I could describe it better, but it really does feel like someones lightly tw*tted the car from behind as you pull up at a junction. The only clue I get that its about to happen is that the revs hang up at 1000, when they would have normally dipped back to idle as the car slowed.
I have never managed to demonstrate this to anyone because if it has not done it by the end of my street, it won't happen all day.
I think the best action for me to take if any is to request the TSB that relates to the V8 and jerkiness in slow traffic be applied to my car, at the next (60k) service.
This has never really bothered me, but recently I have noticed it more often.

I had this thump. Mentioned to dealer at first service two weeks ago. It has not happened since. Don't know what they did. It had the enhancements. It seems cured now.

I actually got out once and checked the back end after one of these incidents because I thought I'd been nudged in a queue.Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

OK, so I thought it was just me! looks like I should mention it and insist that it gets reported on an epqr, looks like not many have reported it.
Mine only does this lurch when the engine is cold and within 1/4 mile of first journey of the day, it happens just as I pull to a halt in stop start traffic, it does it only once, and the revs hang up at 1000 rpm immediately before it happens.
Does that describe it well everyone?

yes,
maybe worth mentioning in addition, if you then try to accelerate, and Im sure I do this gently as I normally do, you get the loud thud which like you describe seems to go away when warm.
