Put in a link wire ..like this
This will make the 1st , 2nd and 3rd row live all the time ( not the ciggy lighter )

Possiblly a stupid question but does making the sockets permanent live pose s fire risk (due to the fuse/relay being removed)? I'm not doubting the advice, just don't want to up when I put the link in and turn it into a slow fuse. SWMBO would not be happy with me if I torch the disco! Java Black Metropolis MY06

Thanks Wiggs. I wasn't doubting the advice, honest. I just had memories of my childhood and messing around with electricity and wires. I seem to recall watching the plastic melt off and seeing the smoke. Seemed pretty cool at the time but not now!
Keep up the good work. Java Black Metropolis MY06

thanks guys, a great and easy fix. Also stops the alarm noise when locking and unlocking which is great. a must for quiet camp sites in the african bush. I presume the alarm still activates though? Is there anything else it affects?

Yes, you are right. the central locking is active always.
The alarm system is not activated just because the switch signal is not function.
If I lock the car, return after an hour or so, and open it with key (not with remote control) the alarm keep silence.

Wiggs you seem to be the real expert, is this correct, the alarm system doesn't work when the bridge for the 12v live is in place for the rear lighter/plug points? Doesn't seem logical to me?

It's not only the rear lighter, it's also for both lighters in the front, and general electricity for the cabin.

The alarm need a signal that will tell it that you switch off. that signal comes from that relay. now you bypass the relay, there is no signal to the alarm system. the alarm system, don't know that you switch off.
