Radio Dead!! Base model audio system |
|
Heylp! Heylp!
Me radio has decided to expire on me! Anybody got any ideas as to why??
I've checked the 5 fuses (42,52,53,57 & 58) which in any way relate to the audio unit and they all appear fine
(Incidentally, does anybody know where to get a long-handled mini-fuse extractor/re-fit tool...?? access to the passenger compartment fuse box ain't easy when you're as wide as I am, and your fingers are more 'sausage' than 'finger'!!)
Is there anywhere else that I haven't checked? and does the audio unit itself have any fuses 'onboard'??
Don't really want to get into ripping the dash apart, but if i must, then i must!
All hints/tips/previous experience gratefully received...
Gobbler If it has TIT's or WHEEL's it will cause you problems!!

If its expired the consider a retro fit double din multimedia unit as a replacement, cheaper than a new LR unit and considerable better sound ,functions and connectivity ......
Check my gallery for some examples.

Before binning it, have you tried the following:
Take the infotainment fuse out,
Lock up the D3 and let it go to sleep [remembering to close the outer glove box lid or you'll damage it],
Unlock after 10min or so and re-insert the fuse.
In many cases this will re-boot the system and has got many 'duff' radios working again. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Disconnect the positive from the battery, earth the end of the positive lead to the frame using a spanner, wait about five seconds, then reconnect the battery. All solved (probably).
See this thread: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic103.html 2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

FYI, the hard re-boot worked! (put car to sleep, disconnect +ve terminal of battery and earth the end of the disconnected cable to -ve ground, reconnect cable, sorted!)
It worked.
I dunno HOW it worked...
But it worked.
Thanks chaps!

Pleased to hear that ........
I would still contemplate ditching it for an aftermarket solution tho' if funds allow, could part fund by selling the LR unit
