Hi trailhound, yes that's the bit. The other side is similar (additional metal in the area between the bolt hole and the mount compared to the weak design).

Started to loosen the cambelt cover this evening as it was getting dark, undid all the bolts I could see but just wondering if anyone knows how many cambelt cover bolts there should be?
Have you undone the ones in the cover that are hidden in the holes, one just above the crankshaft and the other above the water pump, also if its never been off the two cable looms to the egr's are fastened to the casing with plastic press in clips.

Thanks Flak, shhould be able to find them all in daylight. Trying to loosen the cover enough to use a endoscope to look at the pump. Ancillary belt still in place.
It will be tight with the belt still on, you wont move the passenger side because of the aux belt tensioner, and the aux belt pulleys, but you might be able to prise the drivers open a bit but i dont think you will see past the cam pulleys from the top with the belt pulleys on..
I would drop the aux belt off ..

I may well have to, will see how it goes tomorrow. was trying to avoid undoing coolant hoses.
Having a nightmare trying to get my 07 disco 3 sorted. This failing oil pump casting part is a disgrace that landrover haven't recalled them. Is there anyone who's had luck with landrover paying for their damaged car. I just paid €15,000 for this disco which lasted me 8 months until this tensioner pully snapped off. I had my Isuzu for 14yrs, never broke down and got recalled twice with turbo issue I didn't even notice and was repaired without issue/cost. As my casting cracked while the car was stationary and engine wasn't running, I hoped the only damage was the oil pump housing. Mechanic told me this piece would cost €350, then now tells me the whole oil pump needs replacing at a cost of €2,000. And even still there could be internal damage, which to check alone will cost €400. I will be contacting Landrover about fitting the bill. Waited 10yrs to be able to afford this car. So gutted and angry.

I didn't manage to get to see the area around the tensioner but I believe the part number is for the later type pump so should be ok.

Thanks Andi,
Yeah rip off here in France. I'd be grateful if you could tell me how much should it cost to check the engine for internal damage? Also can I not just change the housing which is broken? Does the whole pump need changing? How much should these jobs cost? Cheers

Yes I'm 99% certain that AD is the dodgy pump and AE is the supercession with the reinforced area around the pulley mount.
