JLR didn't acknowledge a problem but if I booked it in & had the cam belt changed again they would pay for the oil pump

That's encouraging - was there any pre-requirement such as full LR Dealer service histoty?

So can the later stronger oil pump definitely be fitted to an 05 engine?

can anyone give details of a known good supplier with part numbers for this improved oil pump other than LandRover?

I suspect that visiting a Jaguar dealer will result in a: a very high price and b: the old weaker part rather than the new stronger one

I don't see much evidence of knowledge of this issue in Jag circles.

thanks

Mine does have full main dealer service history & I believe this does help, but they only paid for the pump not the labour Big Cry

another question about part number LR013487
it says here
http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/464760/
that it has been superseded by part number LR076782

about part number LR076782
it says here
http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/483357

Quote:
DETAILS OF LR076782
please note modified, now no dowel holes needed

So, could this be why LR013487 wasn't listed as a valid part for an 05 year?
is it lack of dowel holes?
is LR076782 the solution?

thanks

I believe that Disco Mikey can supply Ford AJD-V6/PSA DT17 oil pumps at a very resonable price.

Just posted this on another thread that seems to have just got deleted so posting again as hopefully this is the best thread on this subject.

I read/photographed the part number from my oil pump today (still on the car), it says AE but the "E" is punched in (and bigger) rather than raised cast like the rest of the numbers. Were casings ever produced like this? every image i've seen so far - all the numbers/letters are raised.

Should i worry?

Hi All,
So after seeing the punched "E" part number on the casing of mine, i thought i'd best check by taking off the timing belt plastic cover.

Unfortunately, i didn't get past getting the fan off, i have a fan spanner but nothing to hold the pulley with (didn't need it for my Defender). No amount of sharp tapping would get it shifted so i need to get/make something.

As i've been scuppered for a while, i just thought i'd ask if there were indeed any way to check without removing the cover? i do have a little boroscope camera and i'm sure i read it on a post somewhere.

The belts were changed 6K ago (by the previous owner) so any way of having a quick look would help.

Or has anyone seen an oil pump where the "E" in the part number is punched in rather than cast/raised?

Thanks.

Today I bought my Jag Very Happy

The timing belt is due in 2000 miles, so I will have to do it, probably myself.

Is there any problem (such as quality) with buying a Bearmach oil pump? They seem to be the most expensive of the non genuine parts.

I fitted 2 BM oil pump. Both spat the seals out, drenching everything in engine oil

Only fit OEM pumps Thumbs Up

Turns out I join the sheared tensioner on the oil pump family.

There is another MY08 D3 at the Land Rover garage with the same problem going on the 2 poster for an engine swap when mine comes off!

Was due belts about now and I was going to get the oil pump changed.......
