Just to update, LR have agreed to pay 50% of the cost of a new engine. Given the car has 141k miles and the fault isn't a 'known issue' as such I'm relatively pleased. Pushed quite hard but they wouldn't budge any further - I was told that if it had 150k miles or more they wouldn't have given me anything.......

Good result, indeed. Thumbs Up

But the 150k miles threshold seems a bit arbitrary. Shocked

I know people with higher mileage failures that had the same %paid as you Whistle the 150k figure is Not fixed at all.

But glad you got somewhere at least. Thumbs Up

I own a 2008 57 plate 114,000 miler with full history, Does this mean mine could go bang at anytime in the near future?
Is this limlited to a small number of vehicles or are all 2007/2008 owners boogered?

I do have a warranty (not a warranty direct one) I have paid out for,so hopefully if this happens I'm covered.

Some 57 plates had the engine go bang due to oil pump. I replaced mine with a modified on. Plenty of info on here

The actual oil pump? I thought it was a weak casing that was the problem?

From what I can tell it is both the pump and the cambelt tensioner that are the problems.

The cam belt tensioner bolts into the pump. Look at the photos on here.

So if the pump is changed then the issue is no longer an issue? Also what should it cost to have the pump replaced?
Sorry for all of the questions?

I am going through this process now.

From what I can see oil pump change is 7 hours or 3 extra hours if doing it with Cambelt. Oil pump is under £100

I am hoping to get the belt and pump done for sub £500.

Anybody got any experience of claiming for a new engine through a WD warranty as a result of this fault ?

Hi JacksoB, LR have only offered me 33% towards total cost (engine and labour) and are currently refusing to budge. Would you be happy to PM some advice. My D3 is 07 with 123k.

Also, what did the final bill come to at the main dealers? (Am sitting down...)

Seb, has it been fully serviced and the belts changed at 105 or less?
Was it done by a LR dealer or Indi.
Are you dealing with lrcs or direct with the exec office?
You need to make some more noise.....

Thanks Bodsy. Much appreciated! Yes, fully serviced and belts changed at 105k service by Indi. Currently dealing with LRCS. How can I contact the exec office and what sort of noise would you suggest!?
