The factory toolbars are actually made by Thule, but are not compatable with other thule accessories like bikeracks, skiracks etc.
If you go for the LR branded ones you need to buy LR branded accessories
If you want to put a rooftent on top the Thule kit is more suiteable. due to higher weightload on the Thule kit compared with the LR branded ones.Simon

Is this actually the case?
I have a Thule roof box and top of the range Thule bike racks. Hoped that they MIGHT fit to the LR bars. Other posts seemed to suggest that Thule, Halfords etc boxes fitted LR bars.

They dont fit ! Roofbox co can sell things to adjust my older roof box. The cycle carriers wont fit though I dont believe.
Can you get the basic rails from Thule (or any one else) rather than LR ?

Should I remove all the "soft" plastic cover on the roof?
It sounds like you don't actuially have the roof rails fitted. The soft cover is covering a channel, this is where roofrails (which sit proud of the roofline) fit into. What if the "Hokey Cokey" really is what it's all about?

hi
I am confused (very easy thing to do). I have a GS variant without the fitted roof rails. What do I need to attach my roof box? does the Thule bits detailed here require me to first fix the LR roof rails or can i fit in the channels without them. if i do need the rails is their a 3rd party alternative or will i be giving LR more money?
ta for any clarificationwell why not give it a go what harm can it do!!!

You need the roof rails that run from the front to back.
Check ebay - they're on there occasionally for cheaper than dealer prices.
Alternatively - try Nick @ Yeovil Land Rover (The Large One) who provides a discount to D3.co.uk members.
Not aware of any alternate providers for roof rails im afraid.
Oh and welcome

I have just ordered parts 751 & 3027 for my Thule bars. Received a call from the dealer asking if I would prefer the new lo profile kit (just released). Collecting in a few days time, will advise on the functionality of the kits.Ren Colyn

Just fitted the RR. Part #'s are 753 (supersedes 751) & 3027. Not as low as I expected but I suppose the 751 parts would have been a lot higher. See pics in my gallery. Took 30 minutes to fit on my own (& no scratches!). Easily removable. Hope it fits in my garage!Ren Colyn

It Fits using Access Height Only the bolt on the spare wheel bracket touches but I have enough meat there to cut shorter! Now the next problem... How do I remember to select access height every time I pull in? Hate to think what I would have done if it did not fit! Move house??Ren Colyn
