I'm going to be spending the weekend and first half of next week around the Solway coast (yeah, still no job, and loving it ), and was wondering if there are any nice places for playing off-road around there in a similar style to my recent Langdale Quest trip... Anyone got any suggestions?
Through advice and experience I'm developing a preference for paying to use private land as opposed to green lane type antics, and as I'll probably only have one vehicle to play with it needs to be relatively tame.

You might see if you can get access to the Forest of Ae (near Dumfries). Ae 4x4 club work with Forest Enterprise to manage access to this fabulous forest, with 1,000's of acres of everything from well made up forest road's to bog holes from (and to) hell. Check out the club at http://www.ae4x4.org.uk/Disco 4 TDV6HSE

You could try Wigtown Off Road Centre, Auchleand Farm, Wigtown tel no 01988 402213 the owners name is Drew Paton.
They have courses of various severity, the site has been used by a few Land Rover magazines.
It is located in the heart of Galloway and the area is also well worth visiting.speaking as a resident.
