SatNav Software - is it too old?
Over the past few weeks i have been driving along 'new'roads in the UK and in Scandinavia that have been open for at least a year, sometimes over 18months and to our surprise, were not showing on the SatNat.
Does anyone know out of interest, how old the data is that is on the current Disc?
Ours is a Jan 06 build and registered in March so im assuming that its the latest Software. I had better go and check the version i guess.
If we do have the latest version then its a pretty poor show from Landrover.

Eject the DVD from the nav computer in under the passenger seat and see what the part number is.
Mine is a June 05 car and has a DVD with a part number of YIW500012, which contains the 2004 navteq maps I beleive.
The latest one is YIW500013, which has the 2005 navteq maps, but I haven't got this for mine yet as the difference in Ireland is not worth the €260 for the new DVD.
So, every time I visit the dealers, I've been getting them to check to see if YIW500014 is listed yet! This should be the 2006 navteq maps (which have been available to Denso for a few months now), and will have 100% coverage of Ireland, so I will be getting this as soon as it's out.

Just a little miffed!
Ive just checked the Satnav version that is installed in our March 06 car (end of Jan 06 build) and it is indeed the version YIW500012 which is from 2004.
To say that im miffed is an understatement as its not even the 2005 version. This would explain my original post about out of date info.
To make matters worse, our 12 month old TomTom has more recent software!
Guess who i will be seeing first thing Monday? Yes, you guessed, my Dealer.

Am i being picky or what?
Ive left the 'problem' with the dealer to sort out.
I called LR Customer Services this morning who i dont mind telling you were useless. I simply got the impression that they were saying ive got a Disc so why am i whinging!!
They told me that the Dealers load the disc and it depends on what they have got to hand and that is what is fitted
The dealer told me it was loaded with whatever disc is supplied with the vehicle from the factory
Hopefully i will get this resolved but it wasnt what i was expecting after parting with my hard earned cash on an otherwise superb vehicle.
I recently upgraded my disk to the latest Australia one, but it took a while.
Landrover (like most car makes) has a policy of quitting old stock before it will issue new stock. Therefore, it doesn't matter when yu bought your car, if they still had stocks of the old disk, then that's what you get.
I even had to wait to get the new disk, because they still had old stock on the shelf and wanted to sell me that...even though I already had the old disk!! Work that one out! Have a nice day!

i have had EXACTLY the same problem ,i had to argue very strongly and use the fact that i had rejected my first discovery to get a updated disc
good luck.
I personaly think the first upgrade should be free we pay enough !!!!

Whilst im still waiting for my dealer to sort this out, i called 3 other dealers in the UK at random.
All 3 called back after making exhaustive enquiries as to which is the most up to date Disc and all failed, saying it was the fault of Navteq but also saying that it was a poor show on behalf of LR.
Don't know how 'genuine' it is but seller reckons it's in original packaging. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Just a tip you lot, next time your belovid is in the shop which I'm sure will be soon, make sure you request a D3 loaner and hey presto you'll always have the latest disc. HSE TDV6 Silver : "Avin it large"
