just on a sad note a local driver for our interercity/state bus company was changing a wheel this morning when the jack slipped/failed/bus moved (still investigating the incident details still sketchy) and the bus crushed him and killed him. just to highlight how something so simple can be so dangerous so when I change a tyre I put the spare under the vehicle first to a: limit damage to under body bits and b: so there is hope of refitting the jack under and never put myself in a position under the car. not going to stop all bad things from happening but at least its a start
but on a lighter note some people are just plain suicidal
I think I'm going to post a joke now to relieve some stress

Require more info for air jack. The air Jacks I have seen have a cone which slips over the exhaust. The problem I see is that the exhaust outlets at the back arent long enougth to slip the cone over them. How was this overcome.

the D3 is variously described as 2.7-3 tonnes I think you are an idiot if you go under a D3 supported by one of these - the only 'safe' way is to jack it up and go under with at least two axle stands tested to a breaking weight of well over 4 tonnes - and consider how much is your life worth .. an inflatable bag or soild metal......???? 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. Taking the greenpi$$ is: Green taxing your citizens more & using some of the money to buy nukes.
But then you are only lifting a corner with a jack like this, to change a wheel. So you wont be lifting anywhere near 3 tonnes.Matt

well if you do support it with a plastic bag keep all limbs away from the car. I have seen axle supports tested, and built one in engineering classes so I have some idea of what I am taliking about..... 2007 TDV6 HSE 'Silver Lady'. With 'free' privacy glass LOL.

and today one of our local bus drivers died while changing a wheel using a very substantial hydraulic jack not an air jack.axle supports are terriffic if you change your wheels at home. so long as you realise the limitations of your jack and use a safe procedure and not race to finsh first all should be well. in some instances the only way to lift a car is with an air jack ie mud, sand and if you cant move the vehicle sometimes you cant fit the jack under
There should be no need to 'go under' a car when changing a wheel. One should also be wary that the jack may fail and be ready to jump aside.
Anyone who jacks a car up in order to work under the car is asking for trouble. If your in the bush and need to do underbody repairs, dig a trench.
My air jack is rated to about 6tn and I trust it more than the scissor jack, but that doesn't mean I'm going to put myself in a position wherby the jack is the only thing between me and oblivion.Have a nice day!

With the dual exhaust system, it is not possible to inflate the jack!
It would need to be modified before you try to use it out in the rough.

Slimer has one here's some pics here
and there is a video somewhere, PM Slimer. read the previous page of this post, caverD3 has an excellent solution toblocking off the other exhaust.
Draper jack is pants, don't waste your money, despite claiming to lift 3 tonnes it will definitely not lift a D3. But if you still want one I've got one you're welcome to buy off me The End
