URGENT!! Help Needed - Drivers door will not lock!

Don't think this has been posted else where, apologies if it has.

My drivers door hasn't been locking that well recently, but today it seems to have given up completely.
All other doors locked but drivers unlocked. Then press lock on remote again and the horn beeps as it there is a door open, when clearly they are all shut. Try drivers door and hey presto it's unlocked and the alarm sounds, then on my next try none of the doors lock. Then ring the stealers and get told "Dunno what to suggest, we can book you in for it to be looked in 7 days" At this point I'm a bit p Censored d off at paying for warranty!!!!

Any ideas anybody??
Thanks

Not entirely sure what can be done from a distance; but I know that some other door faults can be temporarily relieved by pulling the inner release handle out as far as it will go whilst pressing the lock and then unlock buttons on the dash. An assistant could also try the same with the external handle if that fails.

Sometimes, just sometimes this will allow the internals to sort themselves out.

On your other issue, let me translate for you from the Hong Kong Fooey book of Kung Fu...

Translates as:

Why are you bothering us with your trifling tat. We have your money and you are of no further use to us. Please sod off elsewhere.

I.e. get yourself a dealer that cares; whatever brand of car you own, this is the decisive factor between great and enjoyable ownership and ulcers. Don't be afraid to name and shame, there are plenty of members here that will take note, and any dealer that thinks that leaving a £40k+ car unlocked for a week even approaches sanity is worth avoiding.
 Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

Had the same problem with my drivers door last month, rang my local LR dealer who said that it would need a new latch which they ordered overnight. The warranty manager lives round the corner from me so she picked my car up first thing in the morning and I had it back by lunchtime - apparently it only took them 20 minutes to replace the latch. superb service from Gordon Lamb again Thumbs Up

To lock the car overnight I climbed in the back and reached between the drivers seat and b-pillar to flick the latch on the drivers door lock and then used the remote.

Thanks everybody - to follow up:

The stealer who wouldn't look at it for a week is Strastone Bury (bought vehicle from Copley Landrover in Halifax, but I refuse to go back then after they wouldn't fix the stretched hinges on drivers door under warranty [yes I know they are excluded from LR warranty] FFS I noticed the problem within 24hrs of having my permagrin and they insisted I'd let the door swing back in the wind (not that there had been any wind!). All said and done - they were knackered when I collected the vehicle from them and the cost of hinges is about £20 ex VAT to them. So I took it to Stratstone in Bury who charged me about £120 to change them - but hey the door still isn't lined up perfectly, even after taking it back to them - I gave up!!

So....all said and done ...... I've sacked 2 dealers in 15 months.....on to the next one......Guy Salmon in Stockport booked me in for 8am tomorrow morning....would have been nice if they'd offered to store it in their workshop overnight though!

Thanks WOODY179 for the tip - tried it and it seems to have worked.

Like you said stapldm, any dealer who thinks leaving a Disco3 unlocked for a week is OK, is bad news and needs to be avoided...........

So...stealers named and shamed as advised!! Very Happy Very Happy

Visited Guy Salmon in Stockport today, having messed them about with booking in time and even then turning up an hour late I was very impressed to find that as I left the show room my car had disappeared into the workshop. A phone call an hour later informed that it was all fixed and covered under LR warranty and they were just washing the vehicle. I collected an hour later - price quoted for cash was £168 +VAT and the 'wash' was more like £30 worth of valet!!!
Well impressed....I wouldn't have been if I had no warranty and they'd quoted that much!!!!
So basically, Guy Salmon for LR warranty work seem to be the dogs dangley bits, but if you ain't got warranty..........ouch

Got the same problem with mine - it locks when it feels like it (about 50% of the time and I lock it from the passenger side before using the remote the other 50%) Does anyone have the part number for the latch that needs replacing? Their hour job would probably take me all day but any saving is good
