I have installed my LED's today on the interior lights and door cards and have hit a snag. When I open the doors or unlock the car, the interior courtesy lights are not coming on. If I press the button on the light cluster then the lights will come on. Is this how it works with the LED bulbs. When I lock the car then they will go off.

Not really...
When you press you button internally does that turn on the door card lights as well? If so, that's a bit weird
I think that you've simply got the bulbs the wrong way around. Being LED's they need to go in in a specific direction for the current to pass.
Mine are installed and all the lights work as they should, even dim down when they are supposed to which was a pleasant surprise. But I did have to turn a couple around to get them to work.
My only niggle is the puddle lights don't give off that much light as there is no reflector behind them, so I am going to put some foil or mirror card behind it.
Hope this helps..

Changed all mine to LED and no problems. It can't be that you have the bulbs the wrong way round presumably becuase they do come on when you press the buttons?
Could it be that you have turned off the courtesy door light function accidentally? I can't remember exactly how this works but if you press and hold the middle interior light button at the front it puts all the courtesy lights back into auto mode. Maybe when you were fitting the bulbs you accidentally held the middle button in and it turned off auto mode which I think stops the lights comming on when the doors are open (if wrong someone will be along to correct me shortly ).
Press and hold to turn on, press and hold again to turn off, some sort of message is displayed in the dash for a few seconds when you do it l think

I will give this a try. Maybe I did do this when I put the plastic cover back on.
The foil idea sounds like a good fix. I am going to give this a try as well.
The white light does look good in the dark on the cream interior.
Thanks

Hi VFR800,
Can you send me the URL that you used for ordering the LED's, I'm going to order them today. I assume its the same LED used for all interior lights and side lights.
thanks

Are the 2 light in the footwell spec related??

Yes, but you may have a blown bulb. Mine had neither footwell nor puddles, but the wiring was there to clip on socket & cover. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

You're right, it was there. Bulb blown, never noticed it. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

So now we all have the sidelights, number plate lights, interior lights and boot lights done (sometimes its cheaper not having an HSE) what do we need for rear lights, rear fog lights, brake lights and did I read somewhere that indicators are becoming available without the need for a resistor?
Could we get some links to the right ones please (easy way of doing business this!) Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Anybody got any pics of an Alpacca interior with these fitted. I cannot decide wether to go full led or stay with the nice warm glow.

I've changed sidelights and the interiors in the roof lining not done the puddles or footwells yet,
I'd just like to post that this warm glow that keeps being referee to ? I didn't have this !
My yellow bulbs in comparison look p!ss stained and comparable to the interior lamp of a 70's datsun !
In the second row I've put White in the middle lamp that comes on with the keyfob button, either side of this I've put red LED's exact same bulb and from Hids4u but my little un always wants the 2nd row maps on and with the red bulbs fitted you cannot tell they are on whilst driving !
With ref to looking warm, the red bulbs achieve this
I understand this is not to everyones taste but my little un loves them,
