Get a Disco Not necessarily the one you've been looking at though. For that sort of money I'm sure you could get something much newer and with less miles on.
I've had my 55 plate from new and it's now done 74K miles and has never let me down. It's had the odd fault but nothing major. It's heavy on brake pads and discs (now on my 3rd set of pads and 2nd set of discs) but that's not really surprising given the work they have to do bringing 2.7 tonnes of car plus, quite often, another 1.6 tonnes of tintent to a halt.
It's the best car I've ever owned by a long chalk and I still love it to bits Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

I have to agree with all previous posts !
I,ve had Audis and DEFENDERS in the past, got rid of an 08 Puma engined 90 XS and bought a D3 XS 57 plate for £22.5K in Dec just gone, Not had a minutes bother with it,
I love the relaxed driving position and the smoothness of the ride quality, sure u will get that with an Audi but a good Disco 3 will bring you many happy miles worth of motoring ! as said no one really logs on to a forum to say they love their cars, you dont book an appointment to the dentist to tell him you havent got tooth ache do u ?
If you have concerns with the 55 plate dont buy it ! there are literally hundreds for sale across land rovers dealer network,
There are plenty of private ones for sale too, take your time get the best one for the right money and enjoy !
Recently bought my d3 ,an 08 hse , yes buy ,I was looking at 05,06 plates so keep looking until you find the right one , I looked and looked , it was endless , until I found mine higher mileage but newer, I now we can't praise it enough ,buy one ,you know you want to .. 2008 ,hse, it does what it says .

I defo want to buy one What I can't afford to do is to have 2 cars which need lots of DIY maintenance to keep them running well. The Lotus Elise sucks lots of my time so the other car needs to run an run with minimal work. Love them though which is why I'm still looking

........I have an 18 yr old Beemer (102,000 miles) just passed it's 15th MOT and has never failed one yet, and a 4 1/2 yr old D3 (35,000 miles), already getting MOT advisories pinned to the certificate, AND I've not even been off the tarmac in it yet,(unless you class parking on my front lawn offroad)..... I'll leave you to guess which one requires minimal attention

Yes, definately get one they are epic. I had a 2000 X reg Defender 90 from new and did 153,000 miles in it. Sold it, bought an 07 D3 HSE and don't miss the old one at all. Even slightly prefer driving the D3 to my BMW M5. Mrs loves it too! Have to battle with her to drive it when we go out, but if she drives I force myself to have some beers to make up for it!

Gotta make use of that fridge in the front!!!
I've had mine for a couple of months and have found myself making excuses to go out in it. Some reason always end up taking the difficult way home, like through a ploughed field or sand dunes..

Defnately, I love mine. But that price looks high. I paid 26K for an 08 SE in Feb. Took months to find, but keep looking they do come up, and you may have to travel for the right one.

IMO, the D3/4 is the ultimate all rounder. In HSE spec. it's a great executive cruiser, with all the toys you'd reasonably need. It can comfortable seat 7 adults. Fold the seats down & it's van. It's probably the best towing vehicle there is. In standard production form, it must be one of the best, if not the best off-roader available. Will get you around in the snow. It's won over a 100 motoring awards. etc. etc.
Best of all for me is that I can sit in a good upright position, which has vastly improved my bad back (I'm 6ft 7").
But, it's a big & heavy 4X4 so running costs are naturally higher than smaller lighter cars.

For what it's worth I say do it !
Had my 07 XS for eighteen months, covered near on 70k miles and loved every one of them.
I changed it for a FL2 due to mileage and the fact warranty was due to run out, but miss it like mad. Will be going back in the next twelve months and I cant wait!!!

I keep hearing/reading comments along the lines of "I'm out of here when the warranty runs out" which doesn't exactly inspre confidence in these vehicles !
I'm hoping to take my kids with me on Friday (Inset day) to test out cars with me, inc the Disco. Pretty sure its their favourite
