No. Many posts indicate no engine management light on euro III engines with EGR issues. Euro IV always get EML though.

Had my info screen on RANGE for the past few weeks and this morning switched to AVERAGE FUEL. After blanking my EGR's consumption has gone from 18.7mpg to 24.8mpg 8) Best fiver I've spent and a mod that is actually going to pay for itself time and time again Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME

I always hated auto, but concede in a D3/4 it does make sense

Blanks ordered, hopefully gonna fit over the weekend. Those that have blanked using the 5 quid jobies did you bother taking the butterfly valve out or not?

Yep, butterfly out and stored in my toolbox Do the butterfly removal whilst you have the o/s EGR pipe off as you'll have better access to the solenoid and saves a bit of time Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME

If it's any help, I have just had both mine blanked off under extended warranty - it was my choice if I wanted then replaced, or blanked, so I chose the blanking option (and saved the warranty company some bucks )
But . . . the difference has been noticeable, better mpg by around 3-4 mpg, smoother acceleration, seems to have more of a kick when overtaking around the 40-50 mph, so all in all, I'm now convinced I made the correct choice, and I don't have the worry that in the future, say another 80k that the valves would want replacing yet again Never get mad - get even !!
06 D3 now gone to family member and still going strong at 265k

04 D2 TD5 - (clocked 189k from new)
52 X-Trail 2.2 SVE

BrumLee did you put the gasket back between the valve and the blanking plate or between the blanking plate and the pipe? Or does it just need a good squirt of something to seal it on both sides of the blanking plate?

I didn't bother putting the gaskets in as the blanking plates I had were good enough to act as a seal. If you want to put the gaskets in I'd advise putting them between the plate and the EGR valve. Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME

Well, I experienced the same below 2300 rpm powerloss. Ordered the blanking kit from BAS and was done withe the job in 1,5 hours. Easy peasy. Power is back, no warninglights and one happy owner.
Local stealer gave a €1200,- (!!) quote on replacing twe EGR valves.
Cheers,
Jelle
