Hi thanks for joining me! Own couple of military defenders and about to take the plunge with a disco 3. Need a bit of comfort in my old age. Thought I had better read a few horror stories to see if I can be put off.

Hi,
Just joined the forum. No discovery yet but been after one for ages. Been saving for a few years so hope to join the club shortly before the environmental police ban them completely! Been reading the threads with interest.
Cheers

From Disco 2 to Disco 3
Hello,
a introduction from the Netherlands. (so my english language is not always 100% correct sorry for that)
Since our Disco 2 TD5 is gone (for 3 years from now) we are missing it... the greenlaning, the atmosphere of driving one, the ride hight, the cool factor, etc.... (although NOT the fuel consumption on short drives)
lately driving a Saab 95 Aero with 300HP ("lightly" tuned) nice, very fast, but... very low and...... not a Land Rover.... so no Green laning, etc... (and still using a reasonable but high amount of High octane fuel @ € 0,56 p/L more than Diesel here on the mainland)
i can say now (regarding the Saab): had one, been there, done it. Time for a "new" adventure and back to Land Rover... (and its heavy fuel consumption i am afraid
We bought a Disco 3 TDV6 HSE from 2005 (MY06 says the VIN decoder?) in zilver metallic with a rather low milage on the clock 158.800 km (approx 99000 Miles). Although you can never be sure regarding the milage, these day's, so It will get a big detailed inspection soon, as soon it arrives.. (images are from the seller)
i am happy to become a member off this Disco 3 forum, knowing how helpefull it can be, experienced it on the disco 2 forum (and other)
maybe i can contribute also, i HAD a small business in FBH (webasto & Eberspacher) for about 15/10 years ago. (stoped that department in 2009, so it is only some knowledge i can maybe help with, NO parts, NO selling!, etc. ) i have no experience with the Disco 3 FBH IN a Disco3 although used the exact unit (from a Disco3) in a Disco 2.
having allready read a lot on this forum, regarding FB Heaters (always a HOT topic wehen the winter is starting), i have a few questions reagarding (cheaper) sollutions for the interior fans ( AND why not deployed and mentioned here on this forum (at least i can not find some solutions)) BUT will start a own topic regarding that matter soon.
best regards
Harold

Hello All, just bought a Tonga Green D3 and need ur thoughts
Hi All,
Just bought my first Disco 3.... Loved my old Td5 disco 2 (green on beige leather) actually still have it. The colour combo needed to be kept so got this too.
But im all into upgrading this and I've already started with the headlights.
It's going in for paint to body colour the arches etc too.
Whats your thoughts on wheels?
Paul 👍

hi, i have a 2005 d3 tdv6 , fairly rapid. loads of bells and whistles.
Being an ed diesel fitter i am always interested in the dirty bits
Bought this from a second hand showroom and having been on a farm it has the odd bit of wear.
The so called full service was missing a litre of oil and the washerbottle empty
so i am about to do a full fluid change. There are numbers and specs but is it ok to use off the shelf oils?
i need a second key but it seems a mine field get bits here send bits there then to here or send your organs and 400 quid to a dealer. Im a yorkshire man pay for nowt lol
any advice would be very welcome

Brand new member with a school boy question
Hi Martin,
This is the first ever forum I have joined. I have just purchased a 2016 D 4 which has a space saver spare wheel.
I found this forum while looking for information on spare wheel covers - so here goes the school boy question.
I have bought an additional, matching, full size alloy wheel for a spare for my vehicle as I am not keen on space savers. Do I need a cover for it? which way up should it go? and last of all was it a sensible thing to do or should I just stick with the space saver?
I was getting quite confused reading all about adblue etc.

Hi Windy,
If your car has ad-blue then the spare wheel goes face down, ie the spokes are nearest to the ground.
If your car does not have ad-blue then it goes face up ie the spokes are nearest the underside of the car.
I would recommend you get an Uncle Ray Spare Wheel Protecter (site sponsor: https://www.disco4.com/forum/spare-wheel-protector-31159-600.html ) as the little will nick the spare wheel and mess up the winch mechanism - I know this cos the thieving did this to mine!
And welcome to the joys of owning a D4 Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
