"plus the fact that with larger tyres you have more (not sure here if I've got it the right way around!!) rubber in contact with the road and therefore greater frictional forces. " (Big Al)
---------------------------------------------------
Lots of people in this thread did not pay attention to physics at school.

The area of tyre on the road does not affect the grip (friction). It is the compound of the tyre which affects the grip.

Formula one cars could run on very thin tyres of the same compound and still have the same grip. But, they would wear out very quickly. Tyres are wide (or bigger diameter) to make them wear longer not for extra grip. So, I repeat, it is the compound of the tyre which affects the grip.

Now, I know some will argue with this, but before you do check you physics and facts fully.

D.

But back to Heisenberg,

If I know that I'm doing 110kph on the highway, does that mean that I can't know where I am??

or, alternatively, if I know where I am, does that mean I can't know exactly what speed i'm doing?? (I wonder if that would stand up in court)
 Have a nice day!
