I have had a look at the gallery and found some pics of some clear plastic headlamp covers. Has anyone got any more information on these please. Cheers Paul. I've got them on my D3.
Locally made in Oz but similar to the ones in the UK.
The design of the Oz ones are not very good. They won't stay on at the bottom and I had to buy some velcro tape and fix them onto the headlight at the bottom. The rain tends to run on the inside of the cover as well and makes shadows on the road at night.
Not very good in my opinion but still better than replacing a broken headlight.

I don't know about the UK, but they've got an LR part no in Oz.
Bloody good so far, except for the problem that Chris mentions (could be fixed by having two fixing points at the top rather than one - design issue).
I've done 40K, mostly in the country and about 40% on gravel, and haven't broken one yet. The Suby was going through a set every 10-15K.
I've also got the LR bonnet protector which is also an Aust sourced item. Have a nice day!

I've had to remove my bonnet protector as it vibrates horrendously at 100 km/h. It seems that the ends get caught in the airstream going around the bonnet and starting vibrating like mad. Apparently this is a known problem. The solution would seem to be to put something absorbent, like a hard foam between the bonnet and the protector at either end, but haven't tried it yet. Have you experienced the same problem, and if so, have you any suggestions to fix it?

No, I've had no problem with mine at any speed including into headwinds.
Has it been fitted correctly? Have a nice day!

It should have been as it was done by the dealer when I bought the car new. When I complained to the service department they said they had heard similar complaints from other drivers. It seems to start at 100 kph and get real bad by 110 kph. If you don't get it then maybe I need to try refitting it and give it a second chance... 2005 D3 TdV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

Mine has fixing brackets only a coplue of inches from each end. I don't think it would be possible for it to flex enough to cause a proble,.
I got mine in October 2005, when did you get yours?? Maybe they changed the design. Have a nice day!

I've had the LR protector on for a couple of months, but has snapped a SS bracket three times, each time requiring removal of the protector at the side of the road, to stop the ends banging on the bonnet. Been refitted with new brackets by the dealer, again three times, but has broken again, so got them to throw it away and refund my money.
Has anyone come across a third party bonnet protector? Why have I never felt this way about a 4WD before?

I haven't snapped any brackets. I also had a look at them and I think that they would only be at risk of breaking if they were bent at some stage.
I'd get one and fit it myself if I were you. Sounds like the dealer may not be fitting it properly and has been bending brackets to suit himself! Have a nice day!

I've checked mine and it has the fixings at each end too. I remember watching the drivers side end vibrate as I drove down the Bruce Highway, and assumed that is what was making the noise as it stopped as soon as I took the thing off. All the fixings seemed pretty tight when I removed it so I put it down to a desgn fault. However, you've got me thinking that maybe its something else, so its worth a second try... 2005 D3 TdV6 HSE Buckingham Blue
