Hi all.
Just joined this site and have already found my whole day yesterday pushing the wife and kids of the computer to read up on a lot of post's (bloody addictive, but worth it) lol......
Same problem as most of you on here with EGR'S. Pulling away from standstill would be quicker if i had got out and pushed it, then soon as i get to 2500 rpm it picks up like nothing was wrong. The power loss happened over night it wasn't something that gradually come about.Have had it on 3 diagnostic machines, 1 being at a main dealer and 2 at my local garage yet no fault codes have come up???????? Reading into this thread and what my mechanic has advised would be to do the blanking off treatment. Dealers didnt really want to know unless i left it there with them for a few days so they could check it out thoroughly (Replace parts and hope for the best and smile when they hand me the bi££ they mean ). Anyway should it have given off a fault code if it was the EGR'S??
Have ordered the blanking kit from Bell Auto's so soon as i have replaced them i will post to let you all know the outcome
P.S The car is a HSE '54' plate with 80k PRIDE OF NORTH LONDON

hello THFC.....i didnt have any fault codes when diagnosed nor did any warning come up on my engine management........had exactly the same problems as you.....dead in the water from a standing start and when the turbo kicked in at 2000-2500rpm i went off like a rocket.....all back to normal now though well worth blanking the egr off than replacing which is a no brainer cost wise.....

Hi THFC,
I did my EGR's(blanked) a while back, prior had no warning or fault flagged! It is definately worth doing, not that hard and then think about a remap!

Hi Gurmit.
It only blows out black smoke when it goes through the gears, not much but it never did it before i had this problem. If you kick down then i notice it more.

Blanked off the EGR's today. Took about 2 and half hours and a scraped knuckle but sooooooooooo worth it.
Goes like a rocket again, no smoke just pulling power again
Big thanks to Pete at Bell's for getting them to me quick...........
(No more milk floats trying to overtake me at pull away lol)

I've been following this thread with interest as I am thinking of blanking my EGRs, I have none of the symptoms described on hear but thought I would do it as a precaution instead of waiting for the valves to fail.
Would this be a good idea and would I notice any improvment in performance and economy?. Why buy a car when you can buy a Land Rover.....because I'm worth it.
