Cyprus 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 Base 7 Seat Auto Bonatti GreyDiscovery 3

Hiya Baben & all

Sorry Guys, It's just that time of year and everything seems to be working against me.
We are currently suffering from a heatwave out here in Cyprus with temps regularly exceeding 40 degrees, It's the annual Holiday time and what staff are not on holiday, including me, are really struggling. I lost an extra week after my return from Billing due to some really knock you down flu virus, the following week my left ankle swelled up, i think it got bit by something, but either way i was struggling to walk which was not good as the lifts in our building have been out for a month or so, (just being completey replaced) leaving me and my staff have to constantly climb 100 odd steps several times a day which really ain't no fun at all in this heat especially.

On top of that my L322, has got a problem with its front left air spring, my P38, has an really bad sounding rattle from underneath, and my other pride and joy has Battery problems.
That sounds easy to fix, until you realise that anywhere and everywhere you can get a battery from has closed till the end of August.
If it gets any worse i might have to use the worlds smelliest Transit Connect Van that i have on long term loan.

Even my office PC, Big Blue, now needs a total rebuild as the reservoir is cracked and leaking, the water pump is struggling and there is only one flourecent light still working, and i am definately going to need it's immense processing power to calculate the massive polygon fill on the PCB's.

So despite my best efforts, intentions or wishes, i have simply not found as much as a single minute to progress this project, which is even more annoying for me as everyone, as it's now so close. I have not even found the time to sort out the Beta set for Wiggs i promised him, Sorry Chap Embarassed but then he knows me well enough by now to automatically appreciate that i would if i could, and if i have not, then there is good reason.

In fact, i have barely posted above a dozen times here and even then with anything above one liners, let alone get through all the PM's, and if there was ever an indication of just how over busy i am, that would be it Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

But i am getting things back on keel, another couple of weeks and i feel sure i will be able to get back on it and things should quickly come to conclusion on this project.

In fact this is hardly a one line reply Whistle

Sounds like you are having fun! look on the bright side - you can all cancel your gym contracts now Laughing

Judging by the nice long response, things are looking up though

i expect wiggs' a$$ is burning too, now that his wheel is installed. luckily mine is still somewhere in cyderspace, but i guess once its here I will want to install it anyway. If there is any prep work I can do whilst installing the wheel that will make the eventual installation of the "interface"PCB's easier, then please PM me the details.

in the interim, thanks for the update, and hope the ankle and elevator issues resolve quickly

It feels really nippy when shifting with the paddles, although there is still a delay sometimes, just like when using the gear lever, and you can get a double upshift if you hit the paddle as you are nearing 4000rpm. Maybe in a non-tuned vehicle this would be different?
Once in a while at higher speeds the paddle seems unreliable, as if the vehicle is making too many decisions to respond to the input. In low range it works a treat though, and this is really what I wanted. I need to fiddle with the setup a bit, but to be honest this was just done for the heck of it, and I am waiting for colin's more professional solution.

I don't get errors very easily when using the paddles out of sport mode, and I think this has something to do with the specific setup. There is probably a happy medium between the values I used and the ultimate performance, but this wil take some experimentation or better knowledge of the workings of the system

While I've been waiting I've been keeping busy installing factory pti. Works like a charm. Thanks Clint and wiggs for your help with the wiring Thumbs Up

I installed the box right in the front - no taking the car apart- clint showed me how to splice into the MOST bus - all you need is a spare piece of fibre and a connector - plenty of scrapped D3's available for bits.
After a software upgrade it is awesome

Would this wheel fit a D4 Without modifications ?

The shift pattern on the V8 is either lethargic or hyper. I would preffer a convenient manual mode (flappy paddles) for most situataions.

Any updates on the project, I am ready to order a new heated steering wheel so the question is tiptronic (RRS 2010) or just a D4 heated steering wheel ?
