Well got my d4 wheel today and have stripped the thing down to the circuit boards and have to
Say I think this will be able to
Be modded as with most wheels they use resistors on the circuit board to communicate with the car every control has a different value resistor so over the next few days I’m gonna have a play around with it as if the controls are the wrong way around like
People say then it would only be a matter of de soldering the resistor and changing it with the correct value one which as I have done circuit boards in my life I can easy desolder and resolver the surface resistors I do not have a heated wheel so have brought a heated clock spring so I can use the pins for the flappy paddlesDisco 3 gone but not forGotten

Good luck with it James but as most of us were privvy to the thread in it's formative days and got an understanding of how much work Colin put into development, you might be up against it but it should be do-able.
It might even be worth approaching BBS with a multi purchase offer for boards if you fancy speculating. Mods:

I have metered every one now and they are all different values there is one in and 1 out and when u push each switch the out line has a different value so it should be a matter of pushing each switch finding the value it’s giving out and comparing it with the value it should be
Ie if I push the volume up button and the changes station up the resistor on that volume up button needs moving to the station up tack and so on I see no reason why it won’t work at all tbhDisco 3 gone but not forGotten

Starting to get well above my pay grade with talk of stripping down circuit boards.
Bit absolutely best of luck to you and fingers crossed it all works.
Might give me hope that one day I’ll have a working heated D4 wheel on my D3

Hiyas All
After a number of E-mails and PM's asking about it, I would post up on this thread to publicly clarify things on the Steering Wheel Conversion Kit availiability situation, in the hope that doing so is seen as being for interested members benefit and not a breach of Commercial posting rules:
Quote:
they just said they won’t be making any more
We have avoided stating to anyone that we will definately not be making any more of these !!!
As many know and appreciate, despite their being quite limited demand for it, to help out those seeking to do this conversion, we put a huge amount of time, money and effort into developing this Kit over a very long Period, more as a side project to our normal business activities rather than some money making scheme.
These Kits are therefore hand built in very small numbers and they take a huge amount of Man hours.
Unfortunately a few months ago, due to unforseen circumstances, we were forced to make some tough decisions. One being to discontinue the building and supplying of these Kits, which of course seems like an odd thing to do .
While we hope and believe that this will/would be only be temporary, so as not to rule out any possibilities and avoid creating any false promises we have specifically not made any "If or when" responses to anyones availiability questions.
In fact here is a copy of a response made just a few days ago
Quote:
Sadly we have recently had to discontinue producing and providing the steering wheel conversion kit we once produced to assist Disco3 owners in this.
Which explains why you cannot find them on our Web site.
Although we would wish and hope to make them available again before much longer, we cannot provide an guarantees as to if or when this might be.
Sadly it seems many have taken and relayed our responses in only the most negative context possible and some may even imagine the worst is happening here at BBS.
The reality is however that it is very highly likely that we will return to producing and providing these Kits in the not so distant future, in the very least as a last opportunity batch.
I hope you appreciate the clarification
Colin
