But if I was you....I would take a look at Westfield.
They are closer to the original Lotus 7 then a Rush, a Dax Rush is much bigger.
And Westie provides DIY-kits also...

£8k should get you a very nice Westfield (2L, 16v, LSD, etc...)
The Cateringvans are nice but I just couldn't live with one... I found it difficult getting in & out of the things. I've now had a couple of Westfields and have thoroughly enjoyed them. I also found them quite usable on a day-day basis.
I already have plans to build another one, with the kids, in the next couple of years and get our race licenses.
