Eurotunnel Height Limits
I am shortly due to travel on Eurotunnel, in my Disco 3. I remember that they used to have a specific height limit, but the booking process now only asks that you state your vehicle to be a car or car based van, which of course the disco is. I have been told by a friend that there is a height limit with which the Disco complies if driven on access height, but not if fitted with the roof pod, as mine is.
Has anyone any experience of taking a Disc0 3 with the roof comms pod, on Eurotunnel?
Thanks Ian LIan L

Yes, some have, although I just head towards the high bay ones anyway.

Went to the South of France this year with a expo rack and PIAA spots on the rack this year (which all in is taller than the roof pod) - headed straight for the overheight bays with the coaches and tintent draggers and had loads of room between us and the cars in front and behind.
No problems

I go through the tunnel with the D3 regularly, always book as "car/car based van" and then look for the oversize lane as you drive towards the platforms. You have a chance to choose height lanes just before they hold you in the queues before boarding - if you know what I mean...
Besides, it's much nicer in the double height carriages! 2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

The fin will hit the height restriction barrier at access height. Thought mine would go through this year, but no, it just catches it.
As others have said, extra height carriages are far nicer to be in anyway.
I always book and go in the oversize double carriage. Wouldn't risk going in the normal one. Nicer in the oversized though if you do have young kids be warned, far less loos in the over sized. Have a pee break before going to board.

no chance in the standard height carriages if you have anything on top

I have used Euro tunnel three times this year I use the standard car route on to the train but with the suspension on access height and with nothing on the roof it is close.Take the Van option.Enjoy your trip.

Guess with the Expo fitted, I will need the extra height for a trailer and 4 occupants doing a xmas booze/food run

At .7 I did a few booze runs to Calais but at what is more or less parity can't see any savings in doing a booze run though a weekend in Calais or that area is a nice bonus but not being able to discount everything by 30% is a shocker.

who said I stop in Calais.............we cross the border to Belgium on FUMES refuel and fill the boot n trailer. Done it a few years now, every year and ALWAYS saves money.
Forgot to add I get a subsidized FREE crossing through work as we send 6-8 trucks a day through
Don't get me wrong, done Calais, Bruges etc... and had great weekends away but can't see value in shopping at the present euro rate.

The latest forecast is that the pound will drop below the €1 mark soon. According to some men in suits the economy is cocked up and our interest rate will stay at 0.5% for a couple of years or more.

Only problem there is...
...that it was the men in suites who cocked it up!
