Maybe not Dom but does everyone know that? To put things into context it's more a checking mechanism to ensure all interests of the site are considered beforehand....and I would suggest a bit of common courtesy. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

ICBA - all been said before.
EDIT: Actually, it, it's worth repeating. People have regulalry put themselves out for the greater good of forum members only to have to jump through hoops for the sake of it. I have been working some absurd hours this last 6 weeks but was going to make the effort to try and source some more bungs this weekend. I worked out that over the 40 or so I've sold I've made roughly no money (actually reckon I'm down a few quid) and the site gained £80, all the notional "profit" from them. I did it because it adds to the sense of community that prevails here, as have others when sourcing items at a discount. Each time I see things like this thrown in people's faces (when done on a not-for-profit basis) I find myself getting more and more off. I know what Martin's advertising rates are and am happy to still make contributions each time I buy something from a member at a discount, but the whole "though shalt not do your mates a favour" thing sucks.
Now I genuinely CBA. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

DG wrote: it's more a checking mechanism to ensure all interests of the site are considered beforehand.... i think that's where the problem lies, the site is nothing without the input and contribution of the members yet seeks to control what, how and where they should buy 'stuff', together with making a judgement on how beneficial items are to members based upon the suppliers contribution...
surely a forum such as this (and many others) should be driven by the members needs? Granted, the person paying the bills for the server space and bandwidth should have the casting vote, but where does the money to pay the bills come from? It would appear to me that from the many posts that end in "assuming that's OK with the mods / hope this is OK with the mods etc. that many are confused or afraid of posting genuinely helpful info or links incase it invokes the wroth of the mods or admin - surely this is counterproductive? if the site is a commercial venture - many forums are - then i'm sure we can all live with that but there needs to be a clear statement and clear 'rules of engagement' that don't change with each new, competing sponsor
In short, the interests of the site SHOULD be the interests of the contributors, not the interests of the domain name owner and the commercial sponsors - if there were any protection of interests, then there would be no crossover of sponsors, i.e. one remapping sponsor, one driver training sponsor, one vehicle protection sponsor etc. IMO the interests of the site are purely commercial - nothing wrong with that - but I do think there needs a line to be drawn so that everyone, 'free' users, occasional donators, regular donators and commercial sponsors know where they stand

Where does it say that ND? Are you off because you aren't making anything ...or because the site is making something or that it takes so much time out of your schedule I can''t quite work it out TBH 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Iain the mods are only trying to reflect the rules of the site which are readily available. If in this case Stu (and I'm not having a go at Stu BTW) had read the rule regarding group buys then we wouldn't be having this conversation. There has to be rules or there would be chaos. It is, or should be, relatively straightforward. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

In that case, I shall invoke the 'Mr Bumble' coverture
Maybe the conversation desperately needs to be had?
