Aircon is fixed. New compressor fitted by the dealer and it's now nice and cold.
Dealer also pointed out when giving me the compressor failed diagnosis, that the bonnet insulator had failed and needed replacing.
Strangely they told me the bonnet insulator wasn't available, so I ordered one online and fitted it today. Old one had gone "limp" and was hanging down at the back. Presumably that can't be good for airflow? All I know is that the engine bay is really, really hot on this car.
They also told me that they'd performed an inspection of the car and that my brake disks were lipped and needed replacing sooner rather than later. I had noticed that when swapping wheels over but had chosen to ignore it. perfect.
Replacement right hand side tree slider arrived from prospeed so I swapped that and fitted the steps today.
Only jobs remaining are window tinting and (now) new brake discs. They are going to need to wait until my wallet recovers though. Chris

Had a drive out in Shropshire from our Static Van and stopped for a photo opportunity at Hopton Castle. I’m really enjoying being back in a D4.

Thank you. They are the Lazer Gen2 Triple-R Elite 2 x 1000 ans 2 x 750. The round ones are from Australia from a company called Hardkorr
They're all wired up now and wow they are bright! I have them able to be isolated via two switches so don't have to have them on if I don't want them.

Took a trip over the causeway to Saudi Arabia where I bought an Optima Yellow Top D34
Temperatures have been crazy hot for the past month with the car reporting (occasional) highs of 49 degrees C and often temperatures of between 43 to 47. Air-con is still working great and without wishing to jinx anything, I'm pretty sure it's better than in our Prado.
Today I moved some bits around in the spare battery box and got the Optima fitted in and bolted down. I've bought a Redarc BCDC1225d and the next job is to figure out where to mount that.
Also have had new discs and pads all round delivered. I'll wait for the weather to improve before tackling the brakes though.Chris

I clearly jinxed it. Drove it to the dealer today as it absolutely stinks of petrol after being driven.
Still waiting on an official diagnosis from the dealer but after googling, seems likely it's a leaking flange on top of the tank. Searching the web makes it appear to be really common on petrol versions of the D4 / LR4.
There are some good videos on youtube that walk through the entire repair. I'm not brave enough to try that outside when it's as hot out as it is currently.
