Apple Carplay? Now I'm intrigued. What did you install to get that?
100% recommend seats with arm rests. I can't imagine not having them to be honest. of your "pondering" list I'd be putting them at the top. Chris

Yes! I will definitely be doing the seats.... Mine is/was a commercial D4 so the spec is all over the place! No seat heaters but has the 600w "premium" sound upgrade! lol.
Important thing was the history and how its been looked after... I can add everything myself so it will shortly be the best spec'd commercial out there!.....(well... one of them anyway!
Works well... car play does dissolve your phone battery though.... I use mine wirelessly but I may just plug it in on longer days in the van.A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Looks spot on. Dunno if theres already a thread on this, but it not I think your carplay setup needs it's own with details of what's included in the kit, installation etc.. Chris

Added HSE heated electric seats with armrests to my commercial D4.
Sooooo much more comfy and supportive than the standard pseudo leather/pvc seats supplied on the commercial. Electric seats all working on plug and play....(with adding of my seat belt pre tensioners).
I will add the heated console tomorrow and see if that works with the seats without extra cabling and then sort the memory function.....
very much enjoyed adding stuff to the D4 so far....A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Last weekend I replaced the upper coolant pipe(s) after spotting a leak in the old one. Decided to replace / flush the coolant at the same time and in the course of bleeding the system, the bleed screw disintegrated (presumably due to age) which treated me to a nice fountain of hot coolant and made the car undrivable
Ordered the genuine part which consists of a pipe, bracket and the bleed screw and chickened out of fitting it today, as the access from above the engine was way too fiddly and I cant imagine being able to do it without a lift. Swapped the worlds most expensive plastic screw over and after several attempts at bleeding the system I think we're good to go. The wife refuses to believe it (after all the faffing last weekend), so it looks like I'll be doing a test drive on my lonesome tomorrow.
If I'm still struggling I'm going to buy a proper compressor and a vacuum coolant changing thing-a-me-bob.
Bit of googling suggests the BMW bleed screw fits so I've ordered variations in plastic and brass to avoid being caught out again.
On Monday I finally got hold of a set of 5 BFG KO2's and had them fitted to my compomotives. The wheels / tyres are currently stacked up outside the front door - I had to take the wifes car to get them fitted due to the coolant issues above - hopefully I can get them fitted tomorrow.Chris

Coolant system definitely bled ok as the temperatures are fine and stable now as seen on the dashboard and through the IIDTool live values.
Wheels fitted. Took a fair bit of struggling to get the spare back into position and that was after letting all the air out - tyre size is 265/65R18 - so a bit bigger than standard.
Now the aircon is donald ducked again. Outside temperatures of 37 / 38 today and the aircon is blowing hot air. IIDTool live values show the evaporator getting down to 14 degrees minimum and then climbing back to ambient. switching the aircon off for a while then turning it back on again causes the pressure to rise and the evaporator start to cool before pressure drops again and the evaporator starts to warm up. I spent a small fortune with the dealer trying to get the aircon sorted last year so to say i'm unhappy is an understatement. I'll get it booked in soonish.
Aircon is an absolute necessity over here as daytime temps can be in the 40's and in a few months, minimum nightly temps will be 36 / 37 degrees. Chris
