Replaced the scuttle panel on my 2015 D4, already faded and I think someone had treated it with something they shouldn't have... simple task other than having to modify the wiper puller I'd bought..

I've got a scuttle panel on order. I don't have a puller for the wipers though. Fingers crossed that a bit of percussive persuasion will be enough to loosen them on mine. What did you have to modify on yours to get it to work?Chris

The centre part of the puller is recessed (too much) so I took that off and (after a few alternative solutions) just used the screw thread against the top of the bolt but had to use a small clamp to keep the arms clamped the bottom of the wiper arm as they tended to open as tension was applied...
I also took the passenger side A pillar trim off (ordered replacement clips in advance as I'm fitting my RAI tomorrow) to make it easier to get off and back on.
The puller was only about £10 from Amazon and well worth the money, saved risking damaging the windscreen while putting pressure on..I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks, they do! I'm still hopeful that a bit of a whack to loosen them up will do the trick. Otherwise i'll order one of those.Chris

Looks smart
I want to do that to mine. Do you know the part no for the scuttle panel please?
Found some 2nd hand ones on fleabay and they say part no JAG500012. Would prefer a new item as the ones on eBay look as faded as the one I've got!
Cheers,

Been a busy couple of days, fitted my fire extinguisher in front of the front passenger seat, no need to cut the panel to the extent they say in the instructions and also a couple of spacers helped.
Then later finally got round to fitting my RAI, much easier if you’ve done if before, although half an hour to find my rivnut setting tool added to the day

I’ve still got my old one if you fancy refurbing that? Will need a rub down and paint as per Gary’s thread but easy enough to do if you have the time and patience. Listed on here yesterday I think.
With the extinguisher just cut a slot around the two clip mounts (when you take the cover off it’s obvious) and extend that about half an inch extra each side, that way the bracket will sit closer to the mounting points (I ended up buying longer screws anyway and cutting down 20mm spacers to about 15mm to go between the bracket and the mount to avoid over stressing the plastic). The instructions also don’t mention that you have to insert two rivnuts in the bracket. The rest is very straight forward other than moving the mounts down on the extinguisher bracket over about half an inch the it mounts perfectly between the seat rails.
Hope you never have to use it! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

New scuttle panel arrived today and as nigethecat said, it was an easy job. Couple of whacks with a hammer and the wipers came off with the just the mildest of additional persuasion. Had to drop the car into access height though to comfortably reach the wiper in the middle.
Also completed hardwiring my garmin gps, brodit iphone holder and a bluesea usb socket. I used a ready built kit from a company called painless performance that comes with a 3 gang fuse block and a relay which is connected to an ignition live. was easy to install even for someone with my limited skillset.
Step inserts for my prospeeed sliders arrived a couple of weeks back, but unfortunately they don't fit properly on the right side slider. Ben reckons that there must have been a "jigging error" when the right hand slider was built, so he's going to send me a new one as soon as they have stock. If anyone happens to know an LR3 or LR4 owner in Bahrain (or maybe Saudi?) who wants a very heavily discounted set of sliders, albeit ones that aren't compatible with the step inserts, please drop me a pm as I know Ben would be happy to do a deal.
BFGoodrich still out of stock in both 265/60R18 and 265/65R18 Chris
