D4 base models using current non-xenon lights? |
|
Seen a base D4 today and the lights are same as D3. Doesn't look to have LEDS either.
When compared to xenon lights the front grill appears wider as well.
Apologies if mentioned before. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

I don't think they can be the current ones as then the new grill, wings and bumper wouldn't fit
Looking on the LR website, it seems only the HSE gets bi-xenon lights as standard - they're an option on all other trims levels right through from 2.7 GS to 3.0 XS.
Couldn't find any pictures of the halogen lights anywhere though
I'm almost certain that the halogens won't have LED running lights, but they can't be the 'old' ones... 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Well me
Look at the picture of the 'Armoured Discovery' on the UK LR website.
http://www.landrover.co.uk/gb/en/vehicles/...moured.htm
It is a digital mock-up, but you can clearly see that it has the 'old' halogen lights and a different shape 'new' grille/bumper/arches.
The strange thing is that this is what seems to be offered as factory fit on 75% of the available trim levels (not sales volumes) and we've never got to see pictures of it before.

Honest if not the same very very similar but I think they are the same. The grill is wider at the front as the lights are narrower than HSE ones. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Well according to LR the GS 2.7 clearly has the same design as the other higher spec D4's... and TBH its a D4 design cue and part of the major facelift, so I would be surprised if they had a different design for just one model.

mmm and the XS has the old lights... LR need to check their Photoshop artists a little closer me thinks on this 'issue'

The spec on lights is:
HSE - Bi Xenons with LED's
XS - Bi Xenons NO LED's
GS - Halogens NO LED's ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Ron - see if you can give LR UK a quick call and let them know as they don't seem to have a clue. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

DJ appears correct to a point.
Look at the pic here of the XS
http://www.landrover.co.uk/gb/en/vehicles/...ery-xs.htm
Lights are similar to the D3 [incl orange indicators].
Look particularly at the light that ingresses the grill.
I'ts a much smaller diameter [just like the D3's] compared to the HSE as here
also there's less orange in the indicators.
http://www.landrover.co.uk/gb/en/vehicles/...dv6-gs.htm
ok it's on the GS page, but they are not GS lights but HSE
edited, to add - or maybe Simon's right and it's just bad attention to photoshop detail. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

According to the launch spec in the design section...
Quote:New distinctive front lamps featuring LED technology, grouped in a stepped profile around the main
light unit, provide distinctive 'signature' lighting, whilst new rear lamp assemblies incorporating LED
stop, tail and indicator lights are introduced and help to improve the rear aesthetic, as well as
providing faster response times and longer bulb life.
And in the Range Line Up and Pricing section... under All Models...
Quote:LED front signature and rear tail lamps
Again, I would be surprised if the new style lights do no appear on all D4's... its part of the new design.

Probably a GS with halogens and no LEDs as per ronp's post.
I wonder if anyone can get a real-life photo of one? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

It should be, but someone at LR has obviously spent a lot of time photoshopping those pictures and they do look like D3 lights....LEDs or not, there doesn't seem to be any design change to them.
At first I thought that DJ had actually seen a MY09 D3 but he would have noticed the difference in the grille and be left with no doubt that it was a D4.
Simon - which bit of what you said before are you referring to? The fact that all models are supposed to have LED signatures? Ronp says that they are only for HSE.....
It's a bit of a cock-up switching the pictures of the XS and GS around, but it definitely looks like lower trim levels of the D4 have D3(ish) halogen lights as standard. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

I wonder if that base D4 grill would then fit a D3?
