I'm sure this has come up before but try as I might cannot find any posts
Uppertailgate started sticking yesterday - thought it was the heat? . Today total lockout and cannot lift tailgate, cannot hear the switch action working is this just electrical failure or something more major .
Bit hacked off really as this coupled with fuel flap failure and now screaming EPB all in the last week is too much!!! - vehicle out of warranty too
Any help appreciated folks

Have you tryed holding the lock /unlock buttons on the dash for about 5 seconds ?G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
Push and hold the lock/unlock buttons together on the dash to open upper tailgate.
If it happens to work again of its own accord, it's worth programming the remote to open the tailgate before it f s-up again. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Just had AndrewS pop in whilst he was working close by
His tailgate also would not open.
Under the handle is a rubber finger pocket..popping that out reveals the internal microswitch..
I bet it's full of crud or corroded a bit to stop it activating properly
May need a new handle
If not that then the lower tailgate release motor cable jams
but bet it's the formerTLO has left the building.......

Pressing & holding the lock/unlock pops open the upper tailgate but does not release it sufficient to open it,feels like its not releasing on one side?
Nick
The rubber pocket if popped out goes back in ok? or is it handle off to re assemble?.
Thanks for the swift replies guys much appreciated.

You need to get some one to pull the tailgate while you press the buttons .G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
Now close it again and we are back to where we started with tailgate not opening, how the hell do I perform the push n pull in Asda carpark after shopping tonight .
With tailgate open pressing the handle nothing seems to be firing so I'm guessing the switch is fooked as Nick suggests or is there a fuse gone so no voltage=no action ???
Any thoughts??

Simon this happened to my D3 a few years ago, the problem was caused by corrosion and I had to have a new tailgate handle fitted.
If you can pull the rubber finger pocket out as TLO said you can then move the corroded flap out of the way to get at the microswitch - I just pressed this switch to open the door until my ney tailgate handle arrived.

Like the thinkin re push n pull and the programming of the fob - will do it as contingency me thinks
Fingers crossed problem gone away.
Only got to fix lock on fuel flap and a screaming EPB then
Huge thanks guys for your prompt help/assistance much appreciated and the trick of keeping lock/unlock on dash depressed to release was a new one on me for sure.

I have spent more than a week getting people to help with the emergency unlock technique
Think I will pop the rubber and look for corrosion and see whether I need to cue up TLO when the service comes around!2007 TDV6 XS Silver
