Cheers everyone.
Your comments have been all reassuring. The disappointment of the missing gadgets is slowly wearing off as underneath its still a great car. Just took the car out for a spin and its still a very nice place to sit. The sound system is also very very good.
I know its only a V6 but it sounds, well, great after a having a 1.8 Freelander K engine for so many years. The seats and layout are second to none and the feeling of space is something I really like.
I am starting to look at the positives now. Sun roof and alpine glass would only make the car hotter in this climate, Sat Nav would probably take me to Saudi instead of Oman. Also I probably have the only Disco 3 HSE in the UAE or the Gulf which does not have the Sat Nav and sun roofs. I am unique....... How am I doing for consoling myself.....?
Seriously, thanks again, I have been made to feel very welcome and I look forward to posting a few pictures of the dunes around here once I start taking the car out into the wilds of the UAE. I can finally buy the Explorer Off Road guide for the UAE, Borders bookshop here I come.
Cheers
Graeme

Hi Cannylad, gald to see you are enjoying it now. Just thought id mention that there are some posts about fitting aftermarket sat navs inthe place the factory one goes. I think its an alpine unit but there is a mounting kit available now in the uk. Search the posts for it. I t looks avery bit as good as the factory fit one. Hope this helps, regards, Chris.

I saw the program on BBC1 this week, where Ray Mears followed Stuarts trails across Australia, and the HSE he was driving had 19 inch wheels.

Cannylad,
I hope you are enjoying your D3, having returned from a little holiday in Oman and Dubai all I can say is the sunroof you aren't going to miss it really are you? especially with fuel at 24p a litre I don't think I ever bothered turning the aircon off and sometimes even left the truck running while visiting the shops. As to the SATNAV the roads / tracks I travelled where very well sign posted.
I only had a 5.5 ltr toyota landcruiser though
I hope you do become happy with your purchase though as I was jealous of the D3 owners while over there as I know what they are capable of, and just stand out.

Sounds like Aus spec to me.
However, we do not have the v6 petrol on HSE. Only Diesel with 18's or V8 with 19's.
Not sure if that helps <*(((<<

Hi,
Just been trawling through some brochures and it does look to be an Aussie spec as the SAT NAV and blue tooth are being sold as an option for $9750 AUS on the HSE.

SatNav is an option for HSE here in Norway, the same for the Sun roof etc.
I found this out while trawling the used ads.
