I didn't bother checking the connector at the back of the engine as described somewhere here. I checked the easy-to-get-to one under the aux battery cover.

Ahh! I agree that one's really difficult to get to.
I had mine done but now the car's off having the HP fuel and water pumps replaced. (More on that later, once it's all done)Have a nice day!

Well, dropped mine off with the dealer this morning and have just had a call to say that the pump does indeed need replacing but they are on back order with LR! They are going to try and call around a few other dealers, but it looks like I'll be spending a bit of time with my loan FL2 then!

Transgenic tomato anyone?

Without wanting to rub salt in any wounds, didn't you just have yours fixed under warranty? I only ask because I think my D3 is at the same dealer you went to!

Yes Mark, that's correct - only just fixed Dr. Ian Malcolm:

I've just given them a call to check that they are replacing the vacuum pump and servo, which they are. It seems that its only the pump that is out of stock and on back order. Hopefully they will be able to get a second one in to fix yours with as well.

My servo wasn't replaced first time around on the grounds that the oil hadn't reached the servo yet. Looking more closely at the pipes shows that they left the original oil filled pipe attached to the servo Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Just picked mine up from the dealers - they've replaced the pump and the servo, but they've only cleaned the pipe! At least its seems ok for now - time will tell!

To save me trying to follow the pipes routing, does anyone have a diagram, or can tell me where the vac pump is? Probably in the most inaccessible place possible. Just trying to weigh up the degree of difficulty, in case I have to resort to doing this myself. Although if LR haven't improved the sealing capability of these pumps, this is going to be an ongoing pain in the proverbial isn't it?........Another defective piece of s te that LR can't be @rsed to sort out, and another reason for me to want to get shot of the f ing thing.

Vac pump is behind the TDV6 drivers side at the top. The only clue of failure is oil in this pipe

Thanks Jason, I took the engine top cover off and could see it, just,(with a mirror, standing on tiptoes), looks like its bolted on the back of the r/h camshaft, a pig to get at in other words.

When I changed my pads last week, O/S wheel off and it looks thats the way to get it off. More room that way, although did'nt look properly, just looked to see if the spillage had burnt off after my dealer changed mine
