Jonty..................sorry but this is being built for the highways, byway and freeways of UK, Europe and the states
not for serious use in the outback our the Okavango Delta this is purely stockbroker belt and school run material,
Oh and when there's as many Land Cruisers knocking about as Land Rovers then you can tell me how good they are! you can do anything when your cars fitted with diff locks as standard!!!

Why do you say that - because it has a nice interior and painted bumpers?
Anyway, it's a free world - if you like it, buy it, if you don't then buy something else.

Yeah - fair point
Personally - I think it looks OK, I remember first seeing D3 in magazine in summer 2004 and thought - wow - never really thought about car of that type before, now, wouldnt trade it for anything - apart from a D4 when I can get some £££'s together

Agree with Ronp, and bored of it now.............................
It seems to me that there will be a leap in gadgets, and refinement. Lets see how many will want to mod one, or regularly off road it, or are will all being fooled. Could the D3 still be produced alongside the D4, Peugeot still make the 206 and the 207.
To me, if I wanted that level of trim n gadgets I will go for a FFRR, or RRS. If I want a mudplugger then its my current D3 or a Defender.
My opinion and sticking to it.

Cant see the wheel arch eyebrows or the lower bumper plastics lasting long on a green lane and I dread to think what that interior will look like after a run round the forest in Wales.
Not wanting to appear as a Luddite but for me this is a step backwards, I will definitely be sticking with Tallulah instead of rushing off to my dealership!
No, I'm with you entirely - it really annoys me the number of comments on the "Car" website talking about the "poor quality interior" I said in previous posts, wood and leather don't mix with mud, salt water, dogs, sharp bits of dinghy spars etc. The original D3 interior design is a masterpiece of chunky functionality - I don't think D4 is aimed at me - I'll be aiming to keep Katie till she dissolves. Maybe the next Defender will suit my needs better.

Not a fan myself - it lacks the purity and utter sense of purpose of the original. I suppose it's a function of the need to tone the cars size down to appease the pc brigade.
Even the interior doesn't do it for me. The genius behind the D3 design, to my mind, was that it was so 'from follows function' and I think it's been diluted too much - I suspect that the D4 won't age as gracefully as the D3.

Its a fair comment that the D4 has more refinement than the D3, far plusher etc, however was the D3 not so over the D2 when it was first introduced. D3 owners now go off road in style compared to D2 owners. will D4 owners inevitably now simply be able to go off road in even greater style???

And thats a statement that could be level at every mid-life facelift model from every manufacturer
Sadly the economics of attempting it will stop it but there's an argument that goes "retain the D3 in Commercial and GS trim levels" and everyone else has to buy a D4 for the toys.Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
