It's not the vehicle owners that are volatile but the diagnostic tech's themselves.
They spend a fortune on their equipement & need the income it generates to pay for the repayments & constant updates. It's a large investment. You can even name the diagnostic system you use on your adverts & general marketing.
Then another system comes along, bigger & better & the same rules as above apply.
Of course there's going to be symbolic punch ups with tech's claiming their system is better than the other.
I'm the worst for it, & i'm always starting punch up's. I defend my diagnostic systems & investments like the next guy.
My problem is that if bored, i'll start a diagnostic fight even though the other guy uses the same system
No more fight's here chap ...we'd hate for you to have to leave eh 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Hi Guys,
It looks like I have made a fool of myself - again.
I'm a bit tetchy at the moment, perhaps causing me to overreact.
I'll try to rein myself in.
Apologies,

Hi Pete I do it all the time.
Maybe we should change our avatar to:

Wiggs - excellent review, thanks very much for the detail.
Like someone else said, you are the type of guy who helps us evolve
BBS - OK, you got me interested now, I hope I am not the only one who is dizzy with all the hype going on?
It seems you have a wonderful piece of equipment that could really help us now that the D3's are coming out of warranty, posisbly on long trips away from town, and maybe even enable a few luxuries that we never had.
Can you possibly post a list of functions/elements in the D3 that can possibly be enabled by your system, assuming the hardware is present, eg. 4x4 info?, tyre monitoring?, TV, what else?
How do the capabilities of your system compare with the Autologic etc.?

Quick, everyone duck for cover!
Seriously, have you checked out the Blackbox website? Quite a bit of info on there, including instructional videos.

There's nowt on their website answering the questions I posed.
I have tried a couple of the vids, but there is nothing specific to D3. It all looks very user-friendly, but I knew that already from reading Wiggs' epistles.
I need to decide whether I want a Faultmate or an Autologic. Maybe BBS can answer the questions directly?
From what I read, on the fault clearing and recognition side, the Autologic is the spider's pyjamas (if this is not the case, then please enlighten me) but it seems the Faultmate will do what I need it to do.
What would swing my decision would be the what seems to be easy unlocking functionality the Faultmate has, but I need to know more please.
I need direct, clear answers to whether or not we can do the following, or whether it is planned/committed for future release:
1) Auto close/lazy exit sunroof/windows
2) Enable reverse cam input
3) Disable key-in-ignition chime
4) Set speed-dependant suspension-height parameters
5) Enable RRS rear-entertainment to be fitted to D3
6) Enable TPMS?
Can we please have a clear list that relates to the D3, of features we are able to play with? Is that too much to ask?

I know Colin is today making some more videos of the Faultmate features and also working on some of the algorithams needed.
I think he will post and answer the questions as soon as he is available, Also when the tool is for release he will also be posting a full list of its capeabilitys.
Bare with him on this he does not browse the forums all day.
I think
3) Disable key-in-ignition chime
4) Set speed-dependant suspension-height parameters
Are good ones to be covered if possibile.
Pete
