Out of interest has any of the mod team or Martin investigated whether the ebay thing could be an income generator for this site.
Might be a waste of time but they do have an affilliate programI believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

I am very new to this forum but I think it is brilliant that people spot relevant items on Ebay and make the effort to let everyone on here know. I applaud them. Not everyone has time to wade through Ebay and it also highlights items that D3 members may have otherwise missed and for those who find it annoying, nobody is making them read the posts - they can just ignore them. Perhaps if you were trying to quietly get an Ebay item at a low price (nobody else had spotted it as it had perhaps been poorly indexed) then you might take issue with it being broadcast on here but otherwise I think these individuals are providing a great forum spirited service. I will now run for cover.

Sure, it can be a pain with some USELESS links to ebay items. But is it not worth it for those hard to come by items to help that one lucky forum member. Its a collective effort, I brouse ebay NEWLY LISTED, in fact is always open on a seperate scrren when the laptop is on so I tend to catch new bargains.
Its where most buy their parts, things like bumpers and xenon lights I would'nt list as Slimer is the man for most. I think its constructive for people to list these still, all new members appreciate it, remembering they are new to ownership and still trying to appreciate the D3.
Mountain out of mole hill, but I guess those who aint in favour are the ones that want to make a profit rather than helpfulness.
I only do ebay links if somebody has listed somewhere a WANTED item, or a talked about item. If it offends then please delete, I have no problem with that.

Are we saying that all other members are incapable of searching then ? It's not necessarily to do with being helpful ...it's more to do with the fact that the FS&W board fills up with stuff that's clearly available on ebay with minimal searching effort ...and drowns out other members legitimate FS&W posts.

....like the Mantec Plate I spotted last month for BIN £100 and a member bought it, he would'nt have spotted it as it was listed incorrectly
I noticed that thread and thought at the time that that was such a good spirited thread/link to make and someone on this forum was able to benefit. Good on you (unless you were the undisclosed seller - but I think not).

Valid point DG, maybe not so when I personally only link of late ones with BIN price. Take for instance the Mantec I found, sorry to harp on about that, but it was 99p just listed with a BIN £100. I did'nt need it as I have one, so linked it and a member bought it in minutes. SO if another member was watching it then they were foolish TBH.
Now if I had done as Slimer suggested and BIN myself, then listed it on the forum for say £200. Yep another member would have bought it without doubt, but someone would have known I did that and would have got flack for it without doubt. Its not what I do to people, and seriously would hope nobody did to me.
But on the Mods side, I too have had the dirty done to me last year by a member that aint appearing on here of late. I spotted an abar with spots BIN £100, I pm'd him and we did the deal on 50/50, bar him and lights me. I never got them and still waiting today. So in that instance yes the mods are right, best leave the ebay items to be found by others.
Its my failing, I like to help. Now is that wrong or is it just me Slimer

Why not create an ebay section,
Because it stops people finding a bargain. I managed to buy a removable tow bar + electrics for £45 (have I mentioned that?) but if people keep posting 'Look how cheap this is!' then bargains no longer exist.
Leave it to individuals to find
Tiz true - I've been scuppered too before because some bright spark came on here and posted about an item. The only person you're actually helping is the (unknown) seller by possibly generating a bidding war.
The trick to getting good value in ebay is to keep yer mouth shut and bid what you're prepared to pay in the last 10 seconds - simple as that. 8)Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Really fecks me off when I bother to trawl the 'Bay for stuff, and then on the last day some 'helpful' soul on here advertises it to everyone else
Only time it's helpful is when someone is stuck for a part & gets pointed in the direction of Ebay or wherever for a solution they hadn't thought of.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Sounds like forum members looking for a bargain are bitter that another forum member is prepared to pay more for the said item hence don't want other members to be helpful but promoting Ebay items that may be of interest to D3 owners. That's not very friendly in my view.
