Who should carry the can for this ?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7696714.stm
Only 2 people complained about bad language on the night it was broadcast...now 27,000 have after the fact. It was a pre-recorded programme and I think if anyones to blame the BBC should hold their hand up....no? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I bet 100-1 that Andrew Sachs will be on the next Celebrity Big Brother A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Not sure DG, I think Brand and Ross were out of order, they get paid a lot of money and should take some responsibility.
It might seem funny on the surface, but these are flippant comments about having sex with someones grand daughter! true or not, they should not have done it.
Also, the BBC should take responsibilty, because I hear that Andrew Sachs had asked for it not to be broadcast. Whoever over-rode that request should also be sacked.

Reading this, it looks like a joke has been blown out of proportion:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7694989.stm
If they had phoned Sachs up just to tell him that Brand had his grandaughter, their may be an issue, but looking at what was actually said, it seems it was just a joke.
I blame the pole dancer The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

With ronp here - the producer. I don't agree with what they did but this program was passed as fit to air and so that person should take the bullet. Loving the power of the TDV8!

I think it's difficult for comedians who are constantly on the edge ...you always risk upsetting someone...but I think the world would be a less colourful place if they didn't. It's been blown way out of proportion TBH ..they were hanging over the edge on this occasion I agree but some level headed executive should have pulled this before air.
Of course we could take the view that if the pole dancer hadn't gotten jiggy with Brand in the first place

Ask yourself this - if someone said 'I shagged your granddaughter' and you knew it was being broadcast how would you feel? Loving the power of the TDV8!

Producer should get most of the blame, Brand and Ross shouldn't be targeting their 'cutting edge' comedy at an old man.
When done right prank calls are funny though.

What if that same grandaughter was a pole dancer and openly, a member of the satanic sluts extreme group (what ever that is but I'm sure it's not flower arranging and knitting)? The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

They should both be fined and money given to Children in Need and the producer sacked, I heard the full thing today and if it had been live it would be bad enough, but to broadcast it from a recording when you have the opportunity to stop it is even worse.
Apparently there has been a complaint to the police now, but not from the Sachs family.

Agreed VA, she hasn't asked for these things to be said about her. But before any of this, she says she is an Extreme Slut which acording to the dictionary is:
1. a dirty, slovenly woman.
2. an immoral or dissolute woman; prostitute.
I can't believe Mr Sachs is overly proud of her any way. I'm not condoning what Ross and Brand did, it got out of hand, I just think there should be a sense of proportion here.... I see the Grandaughter has jumped on the publicity band wagon and gone to the Sun, stating how terrible her grandfather has been treated. How long before her kiss and tell story comes out though, her walking away with a nice fat cheque? The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Maybe, but I bet it won't be anywhere near what that twunt Johnathon Woss gets, how the hell can the BBC justify £18,000,000 of licence payers money on that pillock I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

Normally, I couldn't give a toss how Brand & Ross behave on air. Anyone who listens to them should be prepared for that sort of thing (I don't ever listen to them) however, that's all well and good as long as they 'do no harm to others' and in this case I think they have.
It's sad when the average Radio listener is unable to differentiate between tasteless but ultimately harmless fun and the nasty stuff this was. I think the BBC has to realise that the majority of their licence fee payers are not "the yoof" this programme is aimed at, and understandably it's those licence fee payers that have 'the right' to complain (as they have)
