RANT:
The sad thing is, it's been available for donkey's years. The trucking industry
has been through it, chewed on it and spitted it out, problem solved.
They have been the leaders in diesel technology since the diesel combustion
engine was first invented.
But the car industry is grabbing at straws Question Question why. Trying to be
TOOhigh teck, because they design cars etc, and not trucks.
These " manne, met die dik brille, wit jasse, met die baie penne,
should start at the basics, before they try too fly too high.
The basic problem is filtration, period. And I will not be told that
LR UK, LR SA, RLR SA were not aware of this from day one.
RANT OVER:

Deon as a possible inclusion to your letter, the in adequate
filtration "systems", across the board in the D3.

Not sure what the part number of the pipe is.

I will be getting one of the pre filter funnels and hope that that helps. It just blows my mind that there is no access to this part from inside this vehicle via an access pannel.

I have a feeling the pipe is going to take a while to get here. A MY09 TDV6 S landed on my doorstep last night.
Thank you LRSA. Its got lots of nice new bits and pieces on it. electric seats, 6 disk shulltel , auto lights, pdc , fog lights , light washers , kak tyres and auto locking doors (mrs happy about that). More to break maybe ????

Wonder if its got new and improved filtration system ???
When the rental was dropped of , guy asked what was wrong with mine. After i had told him , his comment.......

OH ANOTHER ONE

Makes you think hey

Well I am off to the Waterberg this weekend , just hope I get back from it . LAst 2 trips there have both landed me at the dealers .

"Algae, microbes, and water
There has been much discussion and misinformation about algae in diesel fuel[citation needed]. Algae require sunlight to live and grow. As there is no sunlight in a closed fuel tank, no algae can survive there. However, some microbes can survive there, and can feed on the diesel fuel.

These microbes form a colony that lives at the fuel/water interface. They grow quite rapidly in warmer temperatures. They can even grow in cold weather when fuel tank heaters are installed. Parts of the colony can break off and clog the fuel lines and fuel filters.

It is possible to either kill this growth with a biocide treatment, or eliminate the water, a necessary component of microbial life. There are a number of biocides on the market, which must be handled very carefully. If a biocide is used, it must be added every time a tank is refilled until the problem is fully resolved.

Biocides attack the cell wall of microbes resulting in lysis, the death of a cell by bursting. The dead cells then gather on the bottom of the fuel tanks and form a sludge, filter clogging will continue after biocide treatment until the sludge has abated.

Given the right conditions microbes will repopulate the tanks and re-treatment with biocides will then be necessary. With repetitive biocide treatments microbes can then form resistance to a particular brand.[citation needed] Trying another brand may resolve this."

Caver

The big thing is the water. Go to your aircraft guys They purge the water from the tank.
I will go and have a look at the biocides.

I have noticed that if you drive a landy you dont need to have recovery equipment or a friends number. You can just stop to have a pee and 10 toyotas will stop and ask if they can tow you Rolling with laughter

I agree, mine also seems a little low, even with 265/65 17s on. See my previous thread on this http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic25516.html

Still seems fine in off road height, although didnt measure.
Of course we'll make it... were in a landy!

Picked up D3 from agents on Saterday.

They replaced the low pressure pump, high presure pump the filters and strainers. Did about 200 kms with no hassels . Refitted the little baben box and took it out on the road again. WOW i did not realize how much i had been missing . I dont know if they played with any programing on the vehicle, but I never noticed such a pronounced power increase when I first fitted it.

After refitting I found a nifty place for my air compressor and its pipe next to the ABS pump. Fits like it was made for the place.

Hope all your problems have been sorted Thumbs Up

I guess with a squeecky-clean fuel system the fuel pressure and other will be optimal for performance.

Seems like my problems have just begun................ see separate post Yawn
