I have 3 diesel vehicles . go through about 600 lts of fuel across the 3 per month. Why is it only the D3 struggeling. Is the fuel system to high tech for africa ? Surely the fuel system should be able to cope with the fuel quality in the maket that the vehicle is supplied into?

looking atthe filter cloth which I assume is in the fuel tank, it is much finer than most fuel intake filers. The ones I have seen have just been mesh. I think the D3 has a much finer filter system to protect the system. Most probems seem to stem from fuel filter issues of filers being overwelmed. From what I have read in a PDF file a while back before the
filter position change, there are two filters.
The first a 10 micron, which I think is the bag you see, then a
bypass of 30 micron  D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

My 2000 model Defender runs on the cheapest diesel available - what's more, the main filter is easy accessible underneath the right rear wheel arch and can be replaced, purged, bled without even removing the wheel - to date only had to blead it once after running out of fuel 
Wonder if the powers to be at LRSA are aware of this situation - we keep on bitching to one another and the troops on the ground -  Will a friendly letter to SA4X4 or any of the other magazines maybe elicit a reaction from LRSA Erstwhile - D3 S '07. OK . who wants to guess what the fault was. I think landrover should post the faults on this site and the answer will be given to them in under a day.
After they replaced the offending part, they damage another part. Nice one boys
The vehicle has been with them for 8 working days. If my workshop did that to a customer on a piece of equipment that was only 1 1/2 years old I would get Crucified .
It looks like we are running low on good dealers.This sort of must cost Landrover a :censored:fortune.

A clogged cloth strainer in the fuel tank.
Beers for discoeast at next tea party.
So now they broke a pipe when refitting the tank. guess what JLRSA have no stock.
They say that they will give me a loan car till mine is fixed, not holding my breath . probebly a TATA Indica. will have fun pulling my Brakka with that this weekend .

I have been watching this with bated breath. The old reliability issue always worsened by the human error "techniciations" on "repairs". What is this clogged strainer "in" the tank?
Happy to hear we at least know what should not have happened. How, why, the design or some more "extreme" operating conditions..

Would it be the pipes from the top of the tank to the filter
for a MY 07 up, as I have the supply one as spare at the moment.
Unfortunately I have pulled the part number label off, but could find
out. I waited 3 weeks for it
