Just had both heated windcreen washer jets replaced under LR Extended warranty as the heated part was no longer working. Apparently both of them had failed but the electrical circuit and fuse was fine 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Transfer box front output flange oil seal. Failed at 80000 miles after a day on Salisbury Plain (maybe coincidence). Initially the independent LR garage said they could replace the seal in situ, but then realised they had to remove the box to do the job. Quoted about 4 hours labour plus parts - will update this when I collect it later.Previously:

Surely you should have had a breakdown on how they arrived at that figure!!
If were just parts and labour it's way over the top and I certainly would challenge that....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
I need to add Alternator (Generator according to the workshop manual) to my list.
Failed at 139,000km. Cost me AUD800 for the unit.
the new one appears to be a modified design.
Jamo,
Was it a bearing failure?

60K Service failures
Just got car back from 60K service; few bits that have failed:
Needs new steering rack (am told ~£500 excluding labour)
Rear anti roll bar bushes need replacing
New adaptive headlight (although this is covered by parts waranty as its only a month or so since it was replaced).
These will be covered under the extended warranty, which is now beginning to make financial sense, asuming the warranty inspector gves the thumbs up. Asked about possible "wear 'n' tear" and was told no - inspection just to check the works needs doing.D3 HSE V8...

Any chance of a photo of the old one?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Mine was out of LR waranty but had 3 months off Nene Overland waranty. They fix wihout argueing:
Gearbox oilseal
Front diff oil seal
New battery
New windscreen wipers
New rearwindow (window heater had 3 lines that didn't work)
Noisy compressor fixed.
It was sinking over the right front (software they told me) self leveling
and some other small things
I had 3 times problems with my reardoor. Catchmechanisme changed and sensor changed first time but still stops working sometimes????? Repaired by local LR dealer. (Nene repaid me the bill)
So all waranty problems. And I have to admit Nene Overland gave a good service. I am very happy with them.Roel

Adaptive failure
And another one has decided not to work. Lost count on number or these I've had replaced - not a common fault I know but sure seems common to mine.
Covered again by parts warranty I think, rather than extended warranty, as the replacement is to replace the last replacement, and that was only a few weeks ago.D3 HSE V8...

Unless anyone on here or at LR knows better, you might very well be the first person to put one of these D3's beyond 300,000 miles.
