I had an air compressor failure at about 120,000km and out of warranty.
(It was in the car for a total of about 100,000km having been installed ages ago due to the failure of the original one which was one of the first builds that had the trouble.)Have a nice day!

That's just the missus telling you to slow down. I go faster when I hear that noise.

Its been doing it for a while Rob, I finally decided to get it looked at when I could hear it over the radio yesterday. Latest cost after some negotiation will be <£500 hopefully.

That cost includes a few extras DW, like oil for the diff, and some cost for the time spent diagnosing the problem.

Mine is 29/11/04 with just under 40K, didn't take extended warranty. While still in warranty, had one CV joint gaiter replaced and new header tank (faulty sensor) both FOC. Be interested in what to expect from TDV6 and tramsmission as it gets to 100-120K. Are the injectors robust - TD5 had some problems?
BTW is there a mandatory timing belt change - 80K?

Are the actual bearings expensive Gareth as I saw some for sale recently . My mileage is comparable to yours so it's possible I may have to replace down the line.

Mine went out of warranty 1st feb.
Took out a Warranty Direct aftermarket warranty - cos I had some good recommendations [was going to 'wing it']
May - Had front wheel bearings done.
Cost of each bearing £108 + vat.
Done at local garage - not worth the cost of LR repair.
Warranty didn't cover!!
June - AC Compressor failed.
Again, local garage did it.
Expensive - £609 all in [but far cheaper than LR]
AC unit cost £396 on it's own + other bits required.
Warranty didn't cover!!
Also in June, had big 105k service done.
Shopped around and got it for £580 [at LR dealer]
Now done 114k miles and only one regret ....
the aftermarket warranty - a waste of money.
Going to 'wing it' next year.
btw, local garage uses gen LR parts & gives 12 months parts/labour guarantee....... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Are you sure the warranty didn't cover it or is that just what they told you.
Wheel bearings- wearing part-ok fair enough.
But A/C and compressor? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
