Hobgoblin
your right
just spoke with Land Rover and apparently on the 08 My spec this part of the dash os supplied as part of a complete dash setup for the line to assemble straight into the vehicle.
They are currently working on a resolution on this so soon the new H part should be available.
Yours though since it's surely clssed as a misbuild you should be entitled to get the higher assembly instead of waiting...When i say "Higher assembly" i mean the whole centre dash as they would fit into a new build of the production line....
I would seriously look into contacting LRCC and ask them to look into that

TLO
Is the "Higher assembly" different to the kit pictured in monkey hanger's post as that looks like the kit I saw in the brochure.
Apparently what happened with mine was, when I ordered the car you had a choice between black or straight grain wood and this was supposed to be a standard fitment, but when they received the vehicle it was the first 08.5 MY they had seen and according to the dealer LR had changed the spec but hadn't bothered to inform them that this was not now std but a cost option, it would seem that other spec changes were, coolbox is now a cost option, but I did get Hybrid TV and electric steering column, but as far as i'm concerned this doesn't detract from the fact that I specifically asked for the straight grain wood option. I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.

PaulP: Took me so long as the titel Wood trim made quiver. Don't want wood in my Disco but thought I can upgrade the color of the Radio/CD itself.

I'm glad my theory on the RRS panel may work out after all.
Will believe it once it's installed!- I'm still sceptical about the angle of the mounting ?any news nick?
I obtained my centre section via ebay. They crop up from time to time but rarely with the centre panels. There cant be many MY08 and onwards with these being broken, but surplus and second items from the factory do appear.
hernan- the upper section and lower are as one and the wood trim is attached to a recess on either side with metal clips. this is why you cant retrofit the section seperately as far as i am aware. The same guy on ebay who sold me my panels has had just the wood sections for sale but I cant see how these would be of use unless you already have the H frame to accept them.
As it was with mine I had to adapt the clips to allow the section to fit in my dash as the later cars with this option have a space behind the H frame to allow for the fixing clips when you push it in place.- I'll post some pics if anyone's interested once the upper section is in. straight wood with the silver top looks good.
Noticed on one of Marcons new babies that the gearstick , PB , TR surround is silver aswell.
Once you've whipped LR into line Nick can you price in the above the proposed kit or as an optional extra ?

what i could find out yesterday and what i beleive now is that they have changed the way the centre H trim will be supplied...
Originally you bought the back piece of the H and then the walnut/piano side cheeks...looks like now they are going to supply the H trim already installed with the side cheeks as they have superseeded all the parts to 2 ...With Walnut...WIth Piano Black TLO has left the building.......

Your MY08.5 is an SE - the wood/black trim (with square corners) is only an option on the UK HSE I think. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Nick that sounds like what they told me at my dealer... I thought they could just snap the wood faces off and put them on any other piece that didn't come with the wood originally, but they said you can't take the wood off and that it's all one piece now.
