Engine cut out

Good morning, just got in after being recovered home, driving along when engine light came on followed by a message critical engine fault then engine cut off, scanned and had P250A & P0195 codes.
Car will turn over but will not fire. ?
Recovery man checked fuel line nipple, wet but no squirt of fuel.

Any advice appreciated

Update, so had car scanned again and looks like a fuel pressure issue, actual pressure on cranking starts at approximately 32 psi going up to around 55 psi ish, car looking for 233. Psi If I remember correctly.

Any advice appreciated.

Check Robbies guide to low pressure fuel pump, I think you will find the pressure at the schrader valve is much lower than you mention.

I thought I had a fuel pressure issue recently when my engine cut out while I was driving, it turned out to be the Crank shaft position sensor. Car has been running fine since the sensor was changed.

This is just the kind of info I need, thank you.
I’m slowly reading threads and applying to the car when time permits.
The crank position sensor was changed under the recall about 3 months ago, Barrettes Ashford.

Hello mate, How are you getting on?

Just curious Laughing

I assume something like the position sensor or the FP belt snapped? Although I don't think it's common, still possible..

So, checked for crank movement from under the vehicle after removing guards and cooler thingy.
No movement.
Checked lpfp, running and pulling 7 amps. I’ve not got a gauge to fit the test pointin the engine bay.

I think you need to check the HPFP belt..

It certainly seems like you e snapped the belt..

It’s not an impossible job with the body on, just awkward.. but you only need to get as far as taking the cover off to check to start with..

Hi, just curious about how you can eliminate the crank sensor by checking for movement? When mine went it was simply a failure of the sensor not a visible problem with the sensor.

Good luck with finding the fault, I changed the alternator, starter motor and battery before I found it to be the crank sensor on mine. My iiD tool just kept showing no faults!

Hi, the crank sensor has been replaced approximately 3 months ago by main dealership. Unless it’s gone bad. I was checking the crank movement for crank shaft failure.

Update, following Robbie’s thread….
Lpfp is pumping 1.4 Ltrs in a minute.
Pump pressure at the test point in the engine bay is a steady 6 psi, while cranking.

I rigged up a fuel pump and fuel supply to feed into the test point, the engine did try to fire twice but that was it.

I still need to dig into the engine bay and check the hpfp belt, a job for the weekend.

Could it be an issue with a cam position sensor ?

Are you getting any codes other than the ones for the oil temp and level? What is the battery voltage?

Make sure you include "pending faults" when scanning.

If the HPFP belt had snapped there will be a code for the high pressure fuel rail "system pressure low" or actuator stuck, I'm wondering if your problem might bigger than that?
