PS Couldn’t resist, couple of galahs (as in Ya Great Galah) sitting on the veranda. They did fly off but have just come back with a couple of mates and missed out window by a couple of feet!

And forgot to say, on being shown the ropes we were advised to make sure we at least keep our bug screen door shut at all times, if not that and the glass door. They have snakes here and wouldn’t want one to cuddle up to is at night! Eastern brown, copperhead and tiger snakes to name three! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Del,
Any plans to visit Healesville Sanctuary? Only 110 miles NNW of you current location.
I'm also assuming the 12 Apostles is on your list.
Plenty of wineries in Victoria!
Panning for gold in Ballarat?
Spent a few months working in Melbourne a lifetime ago. Enjoy!

We’re heading down to Phillips Island tomorrow but then head up to NE of Melbourne and Healesville is on the list. We have a wine tour booked for when we’re staying in Melbourne, pick up minibus a short walk from hotel the get dropped off at same place, a short stagger back. Very Happy We stayed briefly in Melbourne in 2020 but didn’t do much as the weather was seriously rubbish, even in Feb. Then it’s off round the coast incl to see the Apostles. Thumbs Up Unfortunately Ballarat isn’t on the list as we’re sticking to the coast to get round to Kangeroo Island and Adelaide.

Last night went out for a drive with the B&B owner looking for Wombats, something we hadn’t seen before and saw 4 of them. Really enjoyed that, plus saw 2 possums (bush tailed and ring tailed), more firsts. Tried to take pics but results won’t win any nature photography prizes! Laughing Laughing

Del, if you have not already done it you might like to investigate dinner on a vintage Melbourne tram. I think that they did/do lunch as well but the dinner on the move is recommended.

Enjoying your reports.

John

Edit. Very sorry Del. Seems it has closed. Hopefully you did it on an earlier trip.

Didn’t do it on earlier trip but at the mo it’s not unusual that things are still closed. Lots of things either didn’t make it through the covid restrictions or are fully booked as everyone is back out big style.

Lots of pics today but they are all summed up by this pano. Did some hiking but called it quits when it got up to +33c. Face is a bit glowing, hopefully not too fried.

We think we’ve had not far off a bottle of wine each in the 2 tastings that we did, one was free and the other was A$10 each so pretty good value. One of the wines we tasted at the place we are staying at (Balgownie Estate) was A$150 so deffo got our A$10 worth. We did make up for it with purchases, 3 bottles per place so our wine is sorted for the next few days.

Mind you, one bottle (the Tall Tales Shiraz) is going to disappear when we get a cheese platter delivered to our room.
