Here are the same lights now I can see what they are complaining about mind you it is in the confines of a driveway.
What do you think?

Way too bright ! I would get seriously pixxex off following those
These are mine at night, photo makes them look brighter than they actually are.

Wonder if there’s a set standard for taillight brightness as indeed can often see lights that look like the fogs are on , wonder if u could get a cheap light meter , at least then I suppose u have an accurate reading
See powerful have incorporated there 15 ohm resister into the loom itself and not the light

Wait till dark and I will post up a picture so as to get a better perspective.
Just looking at a dark tint to apply but looks like a specialist job to do so as not to get any creases looks like the windscreen tint you can buy.,any thoughts.
Anyone used the tint spray I have also been looking at ?
Never know it might just be a case of them sending out new looms with the capacitor incorporated
Hope ur able to get it resolved easily , plus saw this out of interest with the different method

There are E or CE markings for this, meaning they have an approved standard…
Trouble is with all those cheap chinese crap around (who illegally put E or CE markings on their products) that you can nor rely on just the marking….
A british or eu reseller is not a guarantee for legal lights i am afraid… genuine brand stuff is though… (or should be if not copied)Best regards

It’s not very easy to measure the brightness of leds.

Thanks all
Iam going to swop them back for the original ones today as I am for a week so to avoid any road rage .
I have looked at the spray method and some say at least 10 coats are needed to get a decent colour also some have said that the spray is not UV resistant and discolours and flakes.
I have gone for the wrap options which seems a good option as the lights have a good consistent shape and no indents or other fancy design patterns patterns to crease up the wrap.
Only eleven quid on Amazon so it's worth the try.
Watch this space either a cock up or a satisfactory results will be the outcome.
Will post post pictures when done either way
Thanks again

I have just noticed on the receipt that the lights are for a discovery 4 with resistors, perhaps that's why they are too bright on my D3/04 🤔
Anyways put original ones back on now and to be honest they look much better, might sell the upgraded lights on here.pete truckle
That's exactly what you would fit to a D3. It needs the resistors to fool it into thinking incandescent bulbs are fitted..

I wonder if the wrong LED's have been installed in the sidelights ring during manufacture? Looks like brake light brightness.
Definitely would be asking Powerful to comment. They will probably swap them for a new set.Richard

It does say in the receipt +fit resistors...
did you fit these? Are the resistors present?
They are hugely bright! You can defo get these to work... they just need to be fed the correct current.A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.
Probably just send a new set? You can use these as disco (teque) lights in your garage..

like a RR classic, only the first ones are considered "the real deal" by many...... the early D3 only needs some time.... Best regards

Agree, I’d get on to Powerful and demand a replacement or refund.
Because …… if you took your Disco for an MOT, it would fail.
You’d also run the risk of being pulled over by the police and charged.
So clearly they “are not fit for purpose”

He`s had them fitted for a couple of years so presumably they have passed an MOT or 2!
