Petrol 4.0 v6 egr delete or bypass?

Reaching out to the global D3/LR3 family here with a question I’m not finding when searching the web.

I have a 2005 (likely late 2004 mfg date) LR3 here in the USA. It’s the petrol/gas v6 4.0 engine The Entire engine was replaced at 72k miles under warranty by Land Rover after snapping a cam shaft in 2009.

Since then I’ve replaced the EGR valve twice and it’s throwing codes again. I’m looking for options to delete or bypass the egr valve unit. I do not believe it will cause issues with passing inspection as long as there are not DTC codes stored or an active CEL light. We do not have the stringent MOT you guys have. This is essentially a back up or extra vehicle for us.

Thank you for any and all wisdom or experience shared![/b]

I think they throw codes if blanked.

P0400 or similar

what is happening that requires the EGR to be replaced. On the petrol engine they generally do not give trouble.

It throws these codes on a regular basis. Warm weather seems to make it more temperamental, and aggressive driving will trigger them more quickly. If I keep it below 3000rpm it’s happy.

P0490-00 (26) Exhaust gas recirculation control - circuit high
P0489-00 (AA) Exhaust gas recirculation control - circuit low

I should s also mention that I have these codes pop up occasionally… with no rhyme or reason I can tell. Once cleared they stay away for a good long while.

B1B02-28 (2F) Low frequency coil - General signal failure - signal bias level is out of range/zero adjustment failure

B1C57-14 (6C) Passive start ignition relay coil circuit - General electrical failure - circuit short to ground or open

B1BA0-66 (6C) Excessive challenge requests or start attempt in storage mode - Algorithm based failure - signal has too many transitions/events

And more recently it also throws codes saying there’s an issue with “incorrect immobilizer key” but the key works fine.

I put all the last ones in the “old and fussy” category, but you never know what’s connected in a weird way on these rigs!

Cheers 🍻

Hm! That is possibly an unleaded fuel problem, could try using a better grade of fuel. It also may be a connector or wire problem.
